  1. 1. Thin Film Synthesis of Nickel Containing Compounds

    Author : Erik Lindahl; Jan-Otto Carlsson; Jens Birch; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemical Vapor Deposition; CVD; Atomic Layer Deposition; ALD; Nickel nitride; Nickel oxide; Nickel; Epitaxy; multilayer; Thin film; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi; Inorganic Chemistry; Oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : Most electrical, magnetic or optical devices are today based on several, usually extremely thin layers of different materials.  In this thesis chemical synthesis processes have been developed for growth of less stable and metastable layers, and even multilayers, of nickel containing compounds. 2. 2. Development of Techniques to Produce Nickel Coated Composite Materials as well as Hollow Nickel Fibres and Kinetic Study of the Process Involved

    Author : Fan Li; Sichen Du; Ioannis Arvanitidis; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nickel; Chemical plating; Kinetics; Model; Hollow nickel fibres; Thermal decomposition; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : The present thesis was mainly to study the preparation of nickel composite materials by chemical plating process. Nickel coated boron nitride particles, nickel coated spherical silica particles and nickel viscose composite fibres were prepared. Both experiment and model development were carried out to study the kinetics of the processes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Accident-tolerant uranium nitride

    Author : Aneta Herman; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; accident-tolerant fuel; uranium nitride; chromium; glucose; internal sol-gel;

    Abstract : After the nuclear accident at Fukushima-Daiichi in 2011, a search for alternatives to a current fuel-clad standard UO2-Zircaloy was encouraged by government and industry and novel fuel-clad systems were selected. These systems are often referred to as Accident Tolerant systems, because of an improved response to severe accidents. READ MORE

  4. 4. Electro-Acoustic and Electronic Applications Utilizing Thin Film Aluminium Nitride

    Author : David Michael Martin; J. Olsson; I. Katardjiev; S. Gevorgian; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; AlN; FBAR; FPAR; CMP; SOI; Nickel Silicide; Wafer Bonding; Electronics; Elektronik; Elektronik; Electronics;

    Abstract : In recent years there has been a huge increase in the growth of communication systems such as mobile phones, wireless local area networks (WLAN), satellite navigation and various other forms of wireless data communication that have made analogue frequency control a key issue. The increase in frequency spectrum crowding and the increase of frequency into microwave region, along with the need for minimisation and capacity improvement, has shown the need for the development of high performance, miniature, on-chip filters operating in the low to medium GHz frequency range. 5. 5. Carbothermal synthesis of nano-structured metal, carbides and nitrides, using solution processed precursors; from precursor to product

    Author : Sarmad Naim Katea; Gunnar Westin; Hilmar Vidarsson; Sanjay Mathur; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Solution-based chemical processing; sol-gel; ceramic powders; transition metal carbides and nitrides; sintering; nickel binder; mechanical properties; Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes how solution chemical based carbothermal syntheses can be used for the synthesis of nanostructured zirconium carbide and nitride nanophase powders as well as a nickel-metal coating on NbC for use as a sintering agent. The focus is on the development of novel synthesis routes using atomic or small nanoscale level mixing of the metal oxide and carbon source in the starting precursors, enabling the use of lower synthesis temperatures and non-agglomerated nanosized powders.
