  1. 1. On the Prediction of Warfarin Dose

    Author : Niclas Eriksson; Mia Wadelius; Lars Wallentin; Lars Berglund; Patrik Magnusson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Warfarin; pharmacogenetics; prediction models; Dosing algorithm; GWAS; VKORC1; CYP2C9; Clinical Pharmacology; Klinisk farmakologi;

    Abstract : Warfarin is one of the most widely used anticoagulants in the world. Treatment is complicated by a large inter-individual variation in the dose needed to reach adequate levels of anticoagulation i.e. INR 2. READ MORE

  2. 2. On the Impact of Bariatric Surgery on Glucose Homeostasis

    Author : Niclas Abrahamsson; Britt Eden Engström; Jan Eriksson; Magnus Sundbom; Neil Gerard Docherty; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hypoglycaemia; Gastric Bypass surgery; Biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch DS ; NT-ProBNP; Continuous glucose measuring system CGMS ; GLP-1-analog; glucose variability; MAGE; CONGA; counter regulation; incretin; Heart Rate Variability; Endocrinology and Diabetology; Endokrinologi och Diabetologi;

    Abstract : Obesity has grown to epidemic proportions, and in lack of efficient life-style and medical treatments, the bariatric surgeries are performed in rising numbers. The most common surgery is the Gastric Bypass (GBP) surgery, with the Biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch (DS) as an option for the most extreme cases with a BMI>50 kg/m2. READ MORE

  3. 3. Neonatal Exposure to Highly Brominated Diphenyl Ethers and Perfluorinated Compounds : Developmental Dependent Toxicity and Interaction

    Author : Niclas Johansson; Per Eriksson; Anders Fredriksson; Henrik Viberg; Hellmuth Lilienthal; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Biologi; Ecotoxicology; ekotoxikologi;

    Abstract : This thesis investigated the developmental neurotoxic effects of neonatal exposure to highly brominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and perfluorinated compounds (PFCs), alone or in combinations, during a critical period of the brains’ rapid growth and development, in mice. The compounds investigated were the decaBDE (PBDE 209), nonaBDE (PBDE 206), octaBDE (PBDE 203), heptaBDE (PBDE 183), and three PFCs, PFOS, PFOA, and PFDA. READ MORE

  4. 4. Insulin-antagonistic neurohormonal pathways in the development of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes

    Author : Martin Lundqvist; Jan W Eriksson; Niclas Abrahamsson; André van Beek; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glucagon; cortisol; ACTH; growth hormone; counter-regulation; clamp; hypoglycemia; hyperglycemia; obesity; type 2 diabetes; inflammation;

    Abstract : According to the current paradigm, the development of type 2 diabetes is driven by insulin resistance and the gradual failure of beta cells to compensate for this by secreting adequate amounts of insulin. Obesity is an important risk factor for type 2 diabetes and is considered to influence disease development primarily by induction of insulin resistance, via mechanisms that have not been fully elucidated. 5. 5. Enhancing Radio Frequency System Performance by Digital Signal Processing

    Author : Charles Nader; Peter Händel; Niclas Björsell; Thomas Eriksson; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : In this thesis measurement systems for the purpose of characterization of radio frequency power amplifiers are studied. Methods to increase the speed, accuracy, bandwidth, as well as to reduce the sampling requirements and testing cost are presented. READ MORE
