  1. 1. Optimization of Pretreatment of Kraft Pulp with Nitrogen Oxides

    Author : Urban Öjteg; [1995]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kappa number; lignins; Nitric acid; Magnesium; spent liquors; viscosity; softwood; oxygen bleaching; Nitrogen dioxide; Manganese; Oxygen; Nitrogen oxides; pretreatment; Kraft pulp;

    Abstract : Modified kraft pulp subjected to oxygen bleaching following pretreatment with 2% nitrogen dioxide for 140 min with the addition of oxygen resulted in low selectivity after subsequent oxygen bleaching. In contrast, pretreatment in the absence of oxygen removed more than 80% of the lignin after oxygen bleaching and still maintained high selectivity (kappa number less than 5 at viscosity 950 dm3/kg). 2. 2. Remote Measurements of Ship Emissions

    Author : Niklas Berg; [2011]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; airborne; Ship emissions; sulphur dioxide; nitrogen dioxide; DOAS; in situ measurements; carbon dioxide;

    Abstract : The combustion of sulphur-containing fossil fuels gives rise to emissions of sulphurdioxide. Nitrogen oxides are also emitted when fuels are burned. The InternationalMaritime Organization (IMO) has ratified regulations regarding Sulphur Fuel Content(SFC) and NOx emissions from the shipping sector. READ MORE

  3. 3. Application of Passive DOAS using Scattered Sunlight for quantification of gas emissions from anthropogenic and volcanic sources

    Author : Claudia Rivera; [2009]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nitrogen dioxide; DOAS; gas emission; sulphur dioxide; volcanic; formaldehyde.; scattered sunlight; anthropogenic;

    Abstract : Monitoring of gas emissions from natural and anthropogenic sources is important due to the negative effects of these emissions on human health, atmospheric quality and ecosystems. Concern over air pollution has increased the need to develop measurement techniques suitable for gas flux determination. READ MORE

  4. 4. Application of scattered sunlight spectroscopy for quantification of gas emissions from anthropogenic and natural sources

    Author : Claudia Rivera; [2007]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; anthropogenic sources; gas emission; volcanoes; sulphur dioxide; DOAS; nitrogen dioxide.; scattered sunlight spectroscopy; natural sources;

    Abstract : Monitoring of gas emissions from natural and anthropogenic sources is of importance due to their negative effects on human health, atmospheric quality and ecosystems. Concern over air pollution has increased the need to develop measurement techniques suitable for gas flux determination. READ MORE

  5. 5. Validation of diffusive samplers for nitrogen oxides and applications in various environments

    University dissertation from Umeå : Umeå universitet

    Author : Annika Hagenbjörk-Gustafsson; Kåre Eriksson; Greta Smedje; [2014]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Nitrogen dioxide; NOx; diffusive sampling; validation; vehicle exhaust; exposure measurement;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to validate diffusive samplers for measurements of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). The Willems badge was validated for NO2 measurements both in laboratory tests and in field tests (Paper I-II). The sampling rate was 40.0 mL/min for ambient air concentrations and 46. READ MORE
