21. Optical Guiding and Feedback in Gallium Nitride Based Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers
Abstract : The gallium-nitride (GaN) semiconductor material has been the core of the revolutionary breakthroughs during the last two decades in the lighting industry, by enabling manufacturing of efficient blue light emitting diodes (LEDs), for which the 2014 Nobel prize in physics was awarded. The GaN technology has further led to violet edge-emitting lasers (EELs), enabling the Blu-ray disk technology, and also to the commercialization of directly green emitting EELs. READ MORE

22. Monte Carlo Studies of Charge Transport Below the Mobility Edge
Abstract : Charge transport below the mobility edge, where the charge carriers are hopping between localized electronic states, is the dominant charge transport mechanism in a wide range of disordered materials. This type of incoherent charge transport is fundamentally different from the coherent charge transport in ordered crystalline materials. READ MORE

23. The Crocodile's Tears : East Timor in the Making
Abstract : On 7 December 1975 Indonesian troops invaded the former Portuguese colony of East Timor, which had unilaterally declared itself independent on 28 November the same year. The immediate background to the Indonesian invasion of East Timor was that the old regime in Portugal was overthrown in April 1974, resulting in a decolonisation programme for Portugal's colonies. 24. Iron or Copper? - Method Development and Mechanistic Studies on Cross-Coupling Reactions
Abstract : The area of catalysis has had an immeasurable impact on modern society. This has been acknowledged through several Nobel prizes during the 20th century ranging from Haber (1918) for the synthesis of ammonia to Richard F. Heck, Ei-ichi Negishi, and Akira Suzuki (2010) for palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions. READ MORE

25. High Order Finite Difference Methods with Artificial Boundary Treatment in Quantum Dynamics
Abstract : The investigation of the dynamics of chemical reactions, both from the theoretical and experimental side, has drawn an increasing interest since Ahmed H. Zewail was awarded the 1999 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on femtochemistry. READ MORE
