  1. 1. Noise and music : a matter of risk perception

    University dissertation from Göteborg : Department of Psychology, Göteborg University

    Author : Stephen E. Widén; Högskolan Väst.; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2006]
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SOCIAL SCIENCES Social sciences Psychology; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Socialvetenskap Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; Adolescents; Tinnitus; Noise sensitivity; Socio-economic status; Attitudes; Use of hearing protection; Risk behaviour; Risk-consideration; Self-image; Norms and Ideals; Use of;

    Abstract : The prevalence of tinnitus and hearing impairments among adolescents seems to increase as a consequence of exposure to loud noise. Several studies have highlighted the negative auditory effects of exposure to loud music at concerts and discotheques, environments in which young people today spend considerable periods of time. 2. 2. Noise sensitivity and FK-type representations for Gaussian and stable processes

    University dissertation from ; Chalmers tekniska högskola; Gothenburg

    Author : Malin Palö Forsström; [2019]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; color representation; exclusion process; color process; Noise sensitivity; threshold stable vector; volatility; noise stability; interchange process; threshold Gaussian vector; multivariate stable distribution; Bernoulli random vector; mixing time;

    Abstract : This thesis contains four papers on probability theory. Paper A concerns the question of whether the exclusion sensitivity and exclusion stability of a sequence of Boolean functions are monotone with respect to adding edges to the underlying sequence of graphs. READ MORE

  3. 3. Noise in the school environment Memory and Annoyance

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Byggvetenskap

  4. 4. Sensitivity, Noise and Detection of Enzyme Inhibition in Progress Curves

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Omar Gutierrez Arenas; Uppsala universitet.; [2006]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Progress curves; limit of detection; Z -factor; primary screening; enzyme inhibition; error structure; sensitivity analysis; High-throughput screning; Biokemi;

    Abstract : Starting with the development of an enzymatic assay, where an enzyme in solution hydrolysed a solid-phase bound peptide, a model for the kinetics of enzyme action was introduced. This model allowed the estimation of kinetic parameters and enzyme activity for a system that has the peculiarity of not being saturable with the substrate, but with the enzyme. READ MORE

  5. 5. Bone Conduction Hearing in Human Communication - Sensitivity, Transmission, and Applications

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Sabine Reinfeldt; [2009]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; transcutaneous; one s own voice; bone conduction; occlusion effect; communication system; sensitivity; bone conduction implant; transmission; bone-anchored hearing aid; bone conduction microphone;

    Abstract : Sound perceived via Bone Conduction (BC) consists of vibrations transmitted to the cochleae through the skull bone from either one's own voice, the surrounding sound field, or a BC transducer. In two-way communication systems, BC is believed to improve the sound quality when used in specific environments, e.g. READ MORE
