1. Chiral Separation of Amines by Non-Aqueous Capillary Electrophoresis using Low Molecular Weight Selectors
Abstract : Three chiral selectors (diketogulonic acid, benzoxycarbonylglycylproline and ketopinic acid) have been introduced for enantioseparation of pharmacologically active amines in non-aqueous capillary electrophoresis. The use of organic solvents, instead of aqueous buffers in the background electrolyte facilitated ion-pair formation between the analytes and the chiral selectors. READ MORE

2. Separation of Pharmaceuticals by Capillary Electrophoresis using Partial Filling and Multiple-injections
Abstract : Different multiple-injection methodologies and the partial filling technique (PFT) have been utilized for separation of pharmaceuticals by capillary elec-trophoresis. In multiple-injection capillary zone electrophoresis (MICZE), the samples and all standards, used for construction of the calibration curve, are analyzed within a single run. READ MORE

3. Enantiomeric Separations using Chiral Counter-Ions
Abstract : This thesis describes the use of chiral counter-ions for the enantiomeric separation of amines in non-aqueous capillary electrophoresis. The investigations have been concentrated on studies of the influence, of the chiral counter-ion, the solvent, the electrolyte and the analyte, on the enantioselective separation. READ MORE

4. Development of separation methods for DNA sequencing and oligonucleotide analysis by capillary lectrophoresis
Abstract : This thesis describes the development of methods for theseparation of DNA sequencing fragments and otheroligonucleotides by capillary gel electrophoresis (CGE), and isbased on live publications. In the first work [Il, an eightfold increase in lifetime ofultra-narrow bore (2-lo-micron ID) gel filled columns comparedto 50-micron ID columns at high electrical field strengths wasexperienced, presumably due to the better heat dissipationobtained in the former columns. 5. New Techniques for Chiral Separations
Abstract : Gas chromatography (GC) has been utilized for the study of enantiomer resolution of the atropisomers of PCBs, o,p´-DDD and o,p´-DDT. Different substituents and concentrations of cyclodextrin, capillary dimensions and type of stationary phase films have been investigated to achieve the resolution of as many of the atropisomers on one column as possible.
