  1. 1. Nonlinear Characterisation and Modelling of Microwave Semiconductor Devices

    Author : Mattias Thorsell; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; noise modelling; nonlinear measurement; active load-pull; noise measurement; thermal characterisation; AlGaN GaN HEMT; nonlinear modelling;

    Abstract : There is an increasing need for more accurate models taking into account the nonlinearities and memory effects of microwave transistors. The memory effects are especially important for transistor technologies suffering from relatively large low frequency dispersion, such as GaN baed HEMTs. READ MORE

  2. 2. Nonlinear and Nonparametric Dynamical Methods in Economics and Finance

    Author : Gazi Salah Uddin; Bo Sjö; Ramo Gencay; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Commodity markets; Nonlinear causality testing; Dependence structure; Business cycles; Timescale analysis; Growth dynamics; Portfolio management;

    Abstract : The objectives of the thesis - which comprises six parts – can be summarized in i) implementing linear and nonlinear/nonparametric approaches toward detecting, measuring and analyzing the nature and directionality of causal relationships in financial markets, ii) elaborating on modern topics in financial investment analysis, iii) probing into the role of commodity futures in constructing optimal portfolios as well as iv) investigating growth dynamics via aggregated and disaggregated indices.The first paper named “Analyzing causal interactions between sectoral equity returns and commodity futures returns in the aftermath of the global financial crisis: The case of the US and EU equity returns”, aims to explore and compare the dependence and co-movement structure between commodity and various asset classes’ returns including the USA and EU stock markets via the use of linear and non-linear causality testing in a comparative context with the additional adjustment for cointegration and conditional heteroscedasticity. Abstract : This thesis is concerned with the propagation of transient electromagnetic waves in nonlinear media. It consists of a General Introduction and five scientific papers. The General Introduction gives a broad overview of nonlinear electromagnetic phenomena. READ MORE

  4. 4. Pulse Propagation in Nonlinear Media and Photonic Crystals

    Author : Victor Kimberg; Faris Gelmukhanov; Shaul Mukamel; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photonic Crystals; Nonlinear optics; X-ray spectroscopy; Theoretical chemistry; Teoretisk kemi;

    Abstract : The present thesis is devoted to theoretical studies of pulse propagation of light through linear and nonlinear media, and of light-induced nuclear dynamics. The first part of the thesis addresses propagation of light pulses in linear periodical media - photonic crystals. READ MORE

  5. 5. On dynamic properties of rubber isolators

    Author : Mattias Sjöberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : Rubber isolator; Dynamic stiffness; Nonlinear; Payne effect; Audible frequency; Fractional derivative; Mittag-Leffler function; Thermo-rheologically simple; Neo-Hooke;

    Abstract : This work aims at enhancing the understanding and to provideimproved models of the dynamic behavior of rubber vibrationisolators which are widely used in mechanical systems.Initially, a time domainmodel relating compressions tocomponent forces accounting for preload effects, frequency anddynamic amplitude dependence is presented.
