  1. 1. Ramification numbers and periodic points in arithmetic dynamical systems

    Author : Jonas Nordqvist; Karl-Olof Lindahl; Johan Öinert; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ramification numbers; local fields; arithmetic dynamics; periodic points; Nottingham group; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : The field of discrete dynamical systems is a rich and active field of research within mathematics, with applications ranging from biology to computer science, finance, engineering and various others. In this thesis properties of certain discrete dynamical systems are studied together with number theoretic properties of the functions defining these systems. READ MORE

  2. 2. Residue fixed point index and wildly ramified power series

    Author : Jonas Nordqvist; Karl-Olof Lindahl; Robert Laurent Benedetto; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; wildly ramified power series; residue fixed point index; formal invariant; iterative residue; ramification numbers; non-archimedean; discrete dynamical systems; arithmetic dynamics; periodic points; Nottingham group; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns discrete dynamical systems. These are systems where the dynamics is modeled by iterated functions. There are several applications of discrete dynamical system e.g. READ MORE

  3. 3. Liposuction and Controlled Compression Therapy in the Treatment of Arm Lymphedema following Breast Cancer

    Author : Håkan Brorson; Kirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; quality of life; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; ortopedi; Kirurgi; traumatologi; arm lymphedema; arm lymphoedema; Psychological General Well-Being index; Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale; shoulder mobility; Nottingham Health Profile; VAS; lymphoscintigraphy; laser Doppler imaging; skin blood flow; controlled compression therapy; breast cancer; liposuction;

    Abstract : Liposuction and controlled compression therapy in the treatment of arm lymphedema following breast cancer About one-third of all women treated for breast cancer develop arm lymphedema. The cancer itself is a worry, but the swollen and heavy arm is an additional handicap for the patients, both physical and psychosocial. READ MORE

  4. 4. LIVING WITH PERIPHERAL ARTERIAL DISEASE Quality of life and the patients' view of meaning

    Author : Christine Wann-Hansson; Institutionen för hälsovetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Short Form 36 Health Survey; Long-term follow-up; Quality of life; Peripheral arterial disease; Chronic illness; Nottingham Health Profile; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Content analysis;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate quality of life and the meaning of living with peripheral arterial disease (PAD) before and after revascularization in a long-term and methodological perspective. The sample in the first study consisted of 142 patients with PAD who were planned for a revascularization. READ MORE

  5. 5. Quality of life in patients with cronical lower limb ischaemia: Before and after revascularisation

    Author : Rosemarie Klefsgård; Institutionen för hälsovetenskaper; []

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to assess quality of life in patients with varying degrees of lower limb ischaemia before and after revascularisation, to assess quality of life in relation to the degree of ischaemia and the respondents’ sense of coherence (SOC) and in comparison with a healthy control group, and to compare two different quality of life instruments regarding their usefulness as outcome measures. Patients were assessed using the Nottingham Health Profile (NHP) and the SOC scale before and six months after successful revascularisation and compared with 102 healthy controls. READ MORE
