  1. 1. Nuclear envelope protein interaction studies

    Author : Mohammed Hakim Jaffer Ali; Einar Hallberg; Anki Östlund-Farrants; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Samp1; Nuclear envelope; protein interactions; chemical crosslinking; proteomics; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Abstract : The nuclear envelope (NE) separating the nucleoplasm from cytoplasm consists of two concentric lipid membranes, the outer (ONM) and inner (INM) nuclear membranes, the nuclear pore complexes (NPCs) and an underlying nuclear lamina network. The INM contains more than 100 unique transmembrane proteins of which only a few have been characterized. READ MORE

  2. 2. Neutron induced light-ion production from iron and bismuth at 175 MeV

    Author : Riccardo Bevilacqua; Stephan Pomp; Magnus Wolke; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; neutron induced reactions; light-ion production; quasi-monoenergetic neutron beam; nuclear data; accelerator driven systems; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear Physics; kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Abstract : Light-ions (protons, deuterons, tritons, 3He and α articles) production in the interaction of 175 MeV neutrons with iron and bismuth has been measured using the Medley setup at the The Svedberg Laboratory (TSL) in Uppsala. These measurements have been conducted in the frame of an international collaboration whose aim is to provide the scientific community with new nuclear data of interest for the development of Accelerator Driven Systems, in the range of 20 to 200 MeV. 3. 3. Three-nucleon forces in nuclear physics simulations

    Author : Tor Djärv; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; configuration interaction; many-body physics; nuclear physics; three-nucleon forces; normal ordering;

    Abstract : The aim of this licentiate thesis is to evaluate the normal-ordered two-body (NO2B)-approximation as a computationally promising way to incorporate realistic three-nucleon forces (3NFs) in nuclear many-body simulations using the no-core-shell-model. The existence and importance of 3NFs is predicted in chiral effective field theories of the strong-nuclear force. READ MORE

  4. 4. Structural integrity of prestressed nuclear reactor containments

    Author : Patrick Anderson; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; steel liner; reliability; relaxation; shrinkage; creep; loss of prestress; tendon; Nuclear; containment; design pressure; Construction technology; Anläggningsteknik;

    Abstract : A nuclear power plant is provided with an extensive defense intended to prevent radioactive discharge in case of a reactor accident. This defense is built up of several independent safety barriers, where the reactor containment constitutes the last barrier to the environment. READ MORE

  5. 5. Science in Business Interaction : A Study of the Collaboration between CERN and Swedish Companies

    Author : Susanne Åberg; Håkan Håkansson; Anna Bengtson; Alexandra Waluszewski; Lars-Erik Gadde; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Science-business interaction; resources; public procurement; technology transfer; technical development; big science; Business Studies; Företagsekonomi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is twofold; to gain and understanding of how CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, interacts with industry; and to gain an understanding of how CERN can become a resource for industry. Both parts of the purpose also have implications for the issue of CERN’s usefulness to industry. READ MORE
