  1. 1. Organic Phosphorus Compounds in Aquatic Sediments : Towards Molecular Identification with Mass Spectrometry

    Author : Heidi De Brabandere; Monica Waldebäck; Emil Rydin; Per J. R. Sjöberg; Rolf Danielsson; William T. Cooper; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; electrospray ionisation; mass spectrometry; liquid chromatography; organic phosphorus; aquatic sediment; eutrophication; sample preparation; extraction; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Phosphorus (P) regulates trophic status in most aquatic systems. However, only bioavailable P contributes to primary production. In most lakes and shallow seas, mineralisation of sediment P into its bioavailable form and its release to the water column is important for maintaining primary production. READ MORE

  2. 2. Detector Considerations for Time-of-Flight in Positron Emission Tomography

    Author : Florian Bauer; Christian Bohm; Magnus Dahlbom; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Positron Emission Tomography; Time of Flight; Depth of Interaction; LSO; Radiological physics; Radiofysik; Medical Radiation Physics; medicinsk strålningsfysik;

    Abstract : Positron-Emission-Tomography (PET) is a modern imaging technique in nuclear medicine providing quantitative 3D distribution of a radioactive tracer substance in the human body. The gamma-detector is the first link in the chain of components that constitutes a PET. READ MORE

  3. 3. Structural, Dynamic and Functional Studies of USP14 : A Proteasome-Associated Deubiquitinating Enzyme Regulating Protein Degradation

    Author : Johannes Salomonsson; Maria Sunnerhagen; Alexandra Ahlner; Eleonore von Castelmur; Pau Bernadó; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Ubiquitin-Specific Protease 14 (USP14) is a proteasome-associated deubiquitinating enzyme (DUB) involved in regulation of protein degradation and recycling of ubiquitin. USP14 consists of a Ubl domain connected to a USP domain via a flexible linker. READ MORE

  4. 4. Safety Reviews of Technical System Modifications in the Nuclear Industry

    Author : Thomas Falk; Sven-Ove Hansson; Teemu Reiman; KTH; []
    Keywords : safety; safety review; nuclear; nuclear power plant; process; process improvement; action research; experience feedback;

    Abstract : The function of safety reviews (here understood as expert judgements on proposals for design modifications and redesign of technical systems in commercial Nuclear Power Plants, supported by formalised safety review processes) plays a fundamental role for safety in nuclear installations. The primary aims of the presented case studies includes: critically examining and identifying the main areas for improvement of the existing technical safety review process as it is conducted at a Swedish nuclear power plant, developing a new process, and evaluating whether any improvements were accomplished. 5. 5. Anti-nuclear Movements in Discursive and Political Contexts : Between Expert Voices and Local Protests

    Author : Ekaterina Tarasova; Mai-Brith Schartau; Björn Hassler; Marta Reuter; Södertörns högskola; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; social movements; nuclear energy; discourse; action repertoires; protests; Nuclear Renaissance; Russia; Poland; Sweden; Politics; Economy and the Organization of Society; Politik; ekonomi och samhällets organisering; Östersjö- och Östeuropaforskning; Baltic and East European studies;

    Abstract : Energy policies which maintain and extend nuclear energy are often opposed by anti-nuclear movements. Ambitious plans for developing nuclear energy in Russia, constructing a first nuclear plant in Poland, and lifting the ban on nuclear energy while allowing the replacement of old reactors in Sweden are examples of such energy policies.
