6. Conditional and non-conditional reward-related responses to alcohol. Nicotinic mechanisms
Abstract : The mesolimbic dopamine system is believed to mediate the positive reinforcing and rewarding effects of addictive drugs by increasing dopamine levels in its terminal area, the nucleus accumbens (nAc). Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) within this system appear important for the pharmacological actions of both alcohol and nicotine, which may explain the frequent co-abuse of these two drugs. 8. Mechanism of action of antipsychotic drugs : focus on the nucleus accumbens and the prefronta cortex : an experimental study
Abstract : Antipsychotic drugs have been classified as typical or atypical. To achieve an effective antipsychotic effect with typical antipsychotic drugs, e.g. haloperidol, a dopamine D2 receptor blockade of about 70% seems necessary. READ MORE

10. United in Diversity : A Physiological and Molecular Characterization of Subpopulations in the Basal Ganglia Circuitry
Abstract : The Basal Ganglia consist of a number of different nuclei that form a diverse circuitry of GABAergic, dopaminergic and glutamatergic neurons. This complex network is further organized in subcircuits that govern limbic and motor functions in humans and other vertebrates. READ MORE
