  1. 16. Experimental and numerical study of the thermal and hydraulic effect of EMC screens in radio base stations : detailed and compact models

    Author : Raúl Antón Remírez; Björn Palm; Masud Behnia; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sub-rack; perforated plate; air cooling; 90 degrees turn; flow deistribution; CFD; measurement; Mechanical energy engineering; Mekanisk energiteknik;

    Abstract : Today’s telecommunication cabinets use Electro Magnetic Compliance (EMC) screens in order to reduce electromagnetic noise that can cause some miss functions in electronic equipment. Many radio base stations (RBSs) use a 90-degree building architecture: the flow inlet is perpendicular to the EMC screen, which creates a complex flow, with a 90-degree air turn, expansions, compressions, perforated plates and PCBs. 2. 17. Mathematical Models in Cellular Biophysics

    Author : Jacob Kowalewski; Hjalmar Brismar; Erik Fransén; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Calcium oscillations; Diffusion; Dopamine receptors; Mathematical models; Computer simulations; FRAP; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Cellular biophysics deals with, among other things, transport processes within cells. This thesis presents two studies where mathematical models have been used to explain how two of these processes occur. Cellular membranes separate cells from their exterior environment and also divide a cell into several subcellular regions. READ MORE

  3. 18. Continuum models and numerical methods for fretting

    Author : Peter Ireman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This study is concerned with continuum models and numerical methods for wear, frictional heat and damage. Of special interest are so called fretting phenomena. Fretting occurs when two bodies in contact experience small periodic, relative motion which leads to wear and the promoted initiation of fatigue cracks. READ MORE

  4. 19. Identification of Stochastic Nonlinear Dynamical Models Using Estimating Functions

    Author : Mohamed Abdalmoaty; Håkan Hjalmarsson; Adrian Wills; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Prediction Error Method; Maximum Likelihood; Data-driven; Learning; Stochastic; Nonlinear; Dynamical Models; Non-stationary Linear Predictors; Intractable Likelihood; Latent Variable Models; Estimation; Process Disturbance; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : Data-driven modeling of stochastic nonlinear systems is recognized as a very challenging problem, even when reduced to a parameter estimation problem. A main difficulty is the intractability of the likelihood function, which renders favored estimation methods, such as the maximum likelihood method, analytically intractable. READ MORE
