  1. 1. Rigorous Simulation : Its Theory and Applications

    Author : Adam Duracz; Walid Taha; Veronica Gaspes; Kazunori Ueda; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; simulation; verification; interval analysis; validated numerics; hybrid systems; cyber-physical systems;

    Abstract : Designing Cyber-Physical Systems is hard. Physical testing can be slow, expensive and dangerous. Furthermore computational components make testing all possible behavior unfeasible. Model-based design mitigates these issues by making it possible to iterate over a design much faster. READ MORE

  2. 2. Heat and Mass Transfer in Built Structures - Numerical Analyses

    Author : Jinkai Wang; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : air convection; heat; numerical procedure; air and moisture transport; long-term thermal performance; numerical stability; gas-filled foam; thermal aging; simulation;

    Abstract : Heat and mass transport processes are often present simultaneously in built structures in building applications. The emphasis of this thesis is to contribute to knowledge about predicting the effects of combined heat and mass transport in built structures. READ MORE

  3. 3. Visualization and mesoscopic simulation in systems biology

    Author : Martin Falk; Thomas Ertl; Germany University of Stuttgart Visualization Research Center; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Scientific Visualization; GPGPU; Simulation; Systems Biology; Model Development; Signal Transduction;

    Abstract : Biological cells appear everywhere on earth. They might live on their own as unicellular organism, like bacteria, or might form complex organisms consisting of several thousands or millions of cells. Despite their small size of only a few micrometers, they are complex little miracles. READ MORE

  4. 4. Accelerated granular matter simulation

    Author : Da Wang; Martin Servin; Jin Ooi; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURAL SCIENCES; discrete element method; nonsmooth contact dynamics; multibody dynamics; granular media; simulation; projected Gauss-Seidel; validation; iron ore pellets; pelletising balling circuit; model reduction; design optimization;

    Abstract : Modeling and simulation of granular matter has important applications in both natural science and industry. One widely used method is the discrete element method (DEM). It can be used for simulating granular matter in the gaseous, liquid as well as solid regime whereas alternative methods are in general applicable to only one. READ MORE

  5. 5. Numerical Simulation of High Reynolds Number Wall Bounded Flow

    Author : Tobias Persson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; subgrid model; DES; high; validation; LES; numerical simulation; near-wall;

    Abstract : In this thesis, four different numerical methods are used for predictions of high Reynoldsnumber (Re), wall bounded flows; Large Eddy Simulation (LES) with two different subgrid(turbulence) models, the One Equation Eddy Viscosity model (OEEVM) and the MixedModel (MM), Monotone Integrated LES (MILES), Detached Eddy Simulation (DES) andReynolds Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS). The LES calculations are combined with a wallmodel based on the law-of-the-wall and in DES a hybrid RANS/LES method is used forhandling the near wall region. READ MORE
