  1. 1. Applied Machine Learning in District Heating System

    Author : Samuel O. Idowu; Christer Åhlund; Saguna Saguna; Olov Schelén; Fredrik Sandin; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pervasive Mobile Computing; Distribuerade datorsystem;

    Abstract : In an increasingly applied domain of pervasive computing, sensing devices are being deployed progressively for data acquisition from various systems through the use of technologies such as wireless sensor networks. Data obtained from such systems are used analytically to advance or improve system performance or efficiency. READ MORE

  2. 2. Nutrient and Organic Matter Dynamics in Beech Forest Floors, in Relation to the Presence of Ground Flora

    Author : Frida Andréasson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bioavailability; mineralisation; soil acidity; soil matrix solution; soil leachate; nitrate; ammonia; dissolved organic carbon; beech; Ground flora; forest floor; O horizon; A horizon; Plant ecology; Växtekologi;

    Abstract : The objective of this thesis was to quantify differences between adjacent patches with and without ground flora of Deschampsia flexuosa L. Trin or Anemone nemorosa L. in two acid European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) forest floors in south-west of Sweden. READ MORE

  3. 3. Shrines and Souls: The Reinvention of Religious Liberty and the Genesis of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

    Author : Linde Lindkvist; Mänskliga rättigheter; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Human rights; history of human rights; religious liberty; the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; UDHR; Charles Malik; O. Frederick Nolde; Commission of the Churches on International Affairs; Partition Plan for Palestine; history of political thought; Quentin Skinner; Hannah Arendt.;

    Abstract : Shrines and Souls provides a multi-layered contextualization of the article on religious liberty in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Article 18), which was propounded by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948. It shows how the framers of the Declaration decided to break with some of the conventional ways of framing religious liberty in international law, by foregrounding the inner freedom of thought and conscience instead of the free exercise of religion, by directly recognizing the right to change religion or belief, and by restricting the human rights framework to the rights of individuals. 4. 4. Extending the observational reach of core-collapse supernovae for IceCube using high-energy neutrinos

    Author : Nora Valtonen-Mattila; Erin O'Sullivan; Timothy Linden; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neutrino physics; Neutrino astrophysics; Supernovae; Core-collapse supernovae; Particle astrophysics; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Neutrino telescopes such as IceCube monitor for low-energy neutrinos O(10 MeV) produced in nuclear processes during core-collapse in supernovae. The detection horizon to the neutrino burst is 50 kpc, the distance to the Magellanic Clouds. READ MORE

  5. 5. Nitrogen in soil water of coniferous forests : effects of anthropogenic disturbances

    Author : Martin Rappe George; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In boreal and temperate forests, long-term elevated nitrogen (N) load may eventually saturate forest ecosystems with N, i.e. total N ecosystem input exceed ecosystem sinks for N, and N losses via soil water transport may then increase and negatively impact environmental quality.
