  1. 1. Modeling glioblastoma heterogeneity to decipher its biology

    Author : Yuan Xie; Lene Uhrbom; Massimo Squatrito; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glioblastoma multiforme; biobank; GBM cells; cell of origin; LGR5; OPCs;

    Abstract : Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common and lethal form of primary brain tumor that mainly affects adults. GBM displays remarkable intra- and inter-tumoral heterogeneity and contains a subpopulation of cells named glioma stem cells that is believed to be responsible for tumor maintenance, progression and recurrence. 2. 2. Cell states along oligodendrocyte development and disease

    Author : David van Bruggen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The brain, one of the most complex organs in the body, where an immense diversity of cell states emerges from simple structure, where function arises from sets of regulatory principles and pattern persist where individual cells do not. Revealing the regulatory underpinnings of the brain, from unspecified cell states to diversity, is paramount for achieving a thorough understanding of the development process and generating insight into the disease states of the brain. 3. 3. Oligodendrocyte pathology following Traumatic Brain Injury : Experimental and clinical studies

    Author : Johanna Flygt; Niklas Marklund; Fredrik Piehl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Traumatic brain injury; oligodendrocytes; oligodendrocyte progenitor cells; interleukin 1-β; central fluid percussion injury; Neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery; Neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery;

    Abstract : Traumatic brain injury (TBI) caused by traffic and fall accidents, sports-related injuries and violence commonly results in life-changing disabilities. Cognitive impairments following TBI may be due to disruption of axons, stretched by the acceleration/deceleration forces of the initial impact, and their surrounding myelin in neuronal networks. 4. 4. Cellular Origin and Development of Glioma

    Author : Nanna Lindberg; Lene Uhrbom; Bengt Westermark; Kristian Pietras; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glioma; brain tumor; PDGF; RCAS TV-A; cell of origin; glial cell; oligodendrocyte progenitor cell; DNA repair; homology-directed repair; RAD51; angiogenesis; histidine-rich glycoprotein; Morphology; cell biology; pathology; Morfologi; cellbiologi; patologi; Molecular Medicine; molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ;

    Abstract : Gliomas are the most common primary tumors of the central nervous system believed to arise from glial cells. Invasive growth and inherent propensity for malignant progression make gliomas incurable despite extensive treatment. READ MORE

  5. 5. Interplay Between Cell of Origin and Oncogenic Activation in Glioma

    Author : Yiwen Jiang; Lene Uhrbom; Anders Persson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glioma; PDGF; cell of origin; Sox5; glioma initiating cells; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Abstract : Glioma is the most frequent primary tumor of the central nervous system. By using the RCAS/tv-a mouse glioma model, we have studied mechanisms controlling glioma development and the effect of cell of origin on these processes.SOX5 was identified as a brain tumor locus in a retroviral insertional mutagenesis screen of PDGF-B induced mouse gliomas.
