  1. 21. Fractional moving blood volume in fetal organs estimated using power Doppler ultrasound

    Author : Edgar Hernandez-Andrade; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; reproduction; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet; fetal adrenal gland; fetal lung; radionuclear microspheres; fetal lamb; perfusion; fetus; Power Doppler ultrasound; fractional moving blood volume;

    Abstract : Power Doppler ultrasound (PDU) is a sensitive technique to detect slow blood movement. The aim of the present study was to develop a standardized method for quantification of the PDU signals recorded from a specific region of interest (ROI) within fetal organs. READ MORE

  2. 22. PLASMA PROTEINS IN NORMAL AND PREECLAMPTIC PREGNANCY

    Author : Karl Kristensen; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gynaecology; andrology; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; Obstetrics; pregnancy; renal function; serum amyloid A protein; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi; preeclampsia; beta-2 microglobulin; C-reactive protein; cystatin C; inflammation; placenta; beta trace protein; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet;

    Abstract : The aim of the research presented in this thesis was to provide extended background knowledge concerning several biochemical markers, used for the medical evaluation of pregnant women with suspected or confirmed preeclampsia, in order to improve the reliability of monitoring. Plasma levels of beta-2 microglobulin, cystatin C and beta trace protein are known to reflect renal filtration in non-pregnant settings, and the plasma proteins, C-reactive protein and serum amyloid A protein, are known to be sensitive markers of inflammation. 3. 23. Dynamic Fetal and Placental Circulatory Changes during Uterine Contractions

    Author : Hui Li; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sexualitet; reproduktion; andrologi; gynekologi; Obstetrik; sexuality; reproduction; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; Venous; Uterine; Umbilical; Resistance; Pregnancy; Oxytocin; Labor; IUGR; Flow; Doppler; Contraction; Brain-sparing; Cerebral;

    Abstract : The best mode of delivery for fetuses with intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and umbilical artery (UA) blood flow changes is not well elucidated. Uterine artery, fetal UA, middle cerebral artery (MCA), and venous blood flow changes during uterine contractions during an oxytocin challenge test (OCT) have not been observed systemically. 4. 24. Ultrasound screening for fetal anomalies

    Author : Annamari Nikkilä; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sexuality; Obstetrik; andrology; congenital malformations; ultrasound; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet; reproduction; gynaecology; Obstetrics; fetal diagnosis;

    Abstract : We studied the prenatal detection rate of various malformations during a study period of 16 years in a population in southern Sweden consisting of 141 240 deliveries. The overall detection rate was 28.4% and the false positive diagnoses were very few. READ MORE

  5. 25. The Plasminogen Activation System in Human Endometrium and Endometrial Cancer; Function, Tissue Localization and Prognostic Importance

    Author : Johanna Nordengren; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics; progesterone; estradiol; cultured cells; gene expression; prognosis; hyperplasia; neoplasm; endometrium; human; Plasminogen activators; gynaecology; andrology; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet;

    Abstract : The release of urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) from endometrial stromal cells decreased after progesterone stimulation, due to upregulation of PA inhibitor 1 (PAI-1) and uPA receptor (uPAR). Subsequently, the uPA:PAI-1 complex was internalized and degraded via uPAR. READ MORE
