    Abstract : The present thesis investigates gender assignment in Jamtlandic from a sociolinguistic and historical/comparative perspective. Jamtlandic is a language variety spoken in northwestern Sweden in the province of Jämtland. It maintains a three-gender system, in contrast to Standard Swedish, which has a two-gender system.     Abstract : Proceeding from the presence of recurrent, poetic phrases and verbal collocations in early texts composed in Indo-European languages, this study is an attempt to elucidate some fundamental problems of myth, tradition and culture. The scholarly study of Indo-European religions and mythology-initiated during the 19th century and proceeding up to modem times with varying success-has often been devoted to the task of restoring a homogeneous system of Indo-European religious beliefs by searching for deep-seated reflexes of such a system in the historically attainable cultures.     Abstract : Decolonizing the Viking Age 1 argues that the Scandinavian “Viking Age” can be seen as a system of knowledge constructed in the late 19th century and in its basic structures maintained up to the present day. This system of knowledge was heavily influenced by the nationalistic and evolutionary ideas of its time of making and may be described as a colonialism of the past. READ MORE
