  1. 1. Search for Dark Matter and Extra Dimensions in Monojet Final States with the ATLAS Experiment

    Author : Olof Lundberg; Christophe Clement; Chad Finley; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dark Matter; LHC; ATLAS; Extra Dimension; Gravity; Calorimeter; High Energy Physics; högenergifysik;

    Abstract : The CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the most powerful particle ac- celerator ever built, in terms of luminosity and center-of-mass energy of the collisions. This thesis presents a search for Dark Matter and Extra Dimen- sions in the proton-proton collisions as recorded by the ATLAS detector. READ MORE

  2. 2. Searches for Dark Matter and Large Extra Dimensions in Monojet Final States with the ATLAS Experiment

    Author : Olof Lundberg; Christophe Clement; Shahram Rahatlou; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; particle physics; bsm; gravity; extra dimensions; dark matter; ATLAS; LHC; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis presents searches for evidence for Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) and Extra Dimensions in proton-proton collisions recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The WIMP is one of the main candidates to constitute the particle content of Dark Matter. READ MORE

  3. 3. Quantitative Magnetic Resonance in Diffuse Neurological and Liver Disease

    Author : Olof Dahlqvist Leinhard; Peter Lundberg; Anne-Marie Landtblom; Marcel Warntjes; Eva Lund; Göran Starck; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiological physics; Radiofysik;

    Abstract : Introduction: Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging is one of the most important diagnostic tools in modern medicine. Compared to other imaging modalities, it provides superior soft tissue contrast of all parts of the body and it is considered to be safe for patients. READ MORE

  4. 4. Phylogenetic Studies in the Euasterids II : with Particular Reference to Asterales and Escalloniaceae

    Author : Johannes Lundberg; Olof Ryding; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organismic biology; Organismbiologi; Organism biology; Organismbiologi; systematisk botanik; Systematic Botany;

    Abstract : The present study is concerned with the evolutionary relationships among the Euasterids II, a group of angiosperms that includes the orders Apiales, Aquifoliales, Asterales, and Dipsacales together with several small, poorly known families yet unplaced as to order.Parsimony analysis of nucleotide sequence data from the chloroplast genes atpB, ndhF and rbcL together with morphological data are used to construct a phylogeny of the order Asterals, which in the present sense includes 11 families and more than 26 000 species. 5. 5. Understanding the Educational Gradient in Mortality

    Author : Olof Östergren; Olle Lundberg; Richard Layte; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; social inequalites in health; education; mortality; register data; Sweden; smoking; alcohol; Sociology; sociologi;

    Abstract : There is a positive association between education and longevity. Individuals with a university degree tend to live longer than high school graduates who, in turn, live longer than those with compulsory education. READ MORE
