    Abstract : This thesis is divided into six parts, all centered around the development of dynamic (i.e., reversibly interacting) systems of molecules and their applications in dynamic combinatorial chemistry (DCC) and organic synthesis. READ MORE

  2. 2. Stereoselective Nucleophilic Additions to Aldehydes and Development of New Methodology in Organic Synthesis

    Author : Tessie Borg; Olof Ramström; Siméon Arseniyadis; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis is divided into four separate parts with nucleophilic addition to aldehydes as the common feature in three of them.The first part deals with the investigation of the stereochemical induction and elucidation of the factors that dictate the p-facial selectivities in Mukaiyama aldol addition to a- and a,b-heteroatom substituted aldehydes. Author : Rémi Caraballo; Olof Ramström; Nicolas Giuseppone; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dynamic combinatorial chemistry; dynamic sulfur chemistry; thioglycoside; mutarotation; disulfide metathesis; hemithioacetal formation; 1H STD-NMR; inhibition; phosphine; Concanavalin A; beta-galactosidase; dynamic drug discovery.; Chemistry; Kemi; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; Bioorganic chemistry; Bioorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the design, formation and evaluation of dynamic systems constructed by means of sulfur-containing reversible reactions, in organic and aqueous media and under mild conditions. In a first part, the synthesis of thioglycoside derivatives, constituting the biologically relevant starting components of the dynamic systems, is described. READ MORE

    Author : Lingquan Deng; Olof Ramström; Javier Rojo; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbohydrates; Glycobiology; Carbohydrate-protein interactions; Perfluorophenylazide PFPA ; Photochemistry; Carbohydrate surface immobilization; Carbohydrate microarrays; Surface plasmon resonance SPR ; Quartz crystal microbalance QCM ; Atomic force microscopy AFM ; Glyconanomaterials; Concanavalin A Con A ; Cyanovirin-N CV-N ; 1-Glycosyl thiols; Mutarotation; 1-S-glycosylation; Stereocontrol;

    Abstract : This thesis mainly deals with the development of photochemical approaches to immobilize carbohydrates on surfaces for glycobiological studies. These approaches have been incorporated into a number of state-of-the-art nanobio-platforms, including carbohydrate microarrays, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), quartz crystal microbalance (QCM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and glyconanomaterials. 5. 5. Efficient carbohydrate synthesis by controlled inversion strategies

    Author : Hai Dong; Olof Ramström; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbohydrate Chemistry; Carbohydrate Protection; Epimerization; Inversion; Dynamic; Regioselective Control; Neighboring Group Participation; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The Lattrell-Dax method of nitrite-mediated substitution of carbohydrate triflates is an efficient method to generate structures of inverse configuration. In this study it has been demonstrated that a neighboring equatorial ester group plays a highly important role in this carbohydrate epimerization reaction, inducing the formation of inversion compounds in good yields.
