  1. 1. The influence of opioids on gastric function experimental and clinical studies

    University dissertation from Örebro : Örebro universitet

    Author : Jakob Walldén; Örebro universitet.; [2008]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gastrointestinal motility; gastric emptying; gastric tone; electrogastrography; analgesics; opioids; µ-opioid receptor; polymorphism; MEDICINE Surgery; MEDICIN Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : Efter operation och anestesi får patienter ofta en negativ påverkan på magsäck och tarmar. Illamående och kräkningar är ett stort problem och många har svårt att komma igång med intag av föda och normal tarmfunktion då magsäcken och tarmarna ”står stilla”. Flera faktorer bidrar- bl.a. 2. 2. The effects of growth hormone on opioid-induced toxicity in vitro

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Erik Nylander; Uppsala universitet.; [2019]

    Abstract : There is an ongoing opioid crisis in the United States that is portrayed by a large number of opioid-related deaths. Many of these cases involve commonly used prescription opioids, such as morphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, and methadone. This is concerning and highlights the problems associated with long-term opioid treatment. READ MORE

  3. 3. Pathophysiology of blood-brain barrier, brain edema and cell injury following hyperthermia : New role of heat shock protein, nitric oxide and carbon monoxide : an experimental study in rat using light and electron microscopy

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Hari Shanker Sharma; Uppsala universitet.; [1999]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; blood-brain barrier; heat stress; hyperthermia; brain edema; serotonin; nitric oxide; carbon monoxide; heat shock protein; glial fibrillary acidic protein; myelin basic protein; opioids; histamine; catecholamines; naloxone; indomethacin; p-CPA; electron microscopy; immunocytochemistry; Cellbiologi; MEDICINE Morphology; cell biology; pathology Cell biology; MEDICIN Morfologi; cellbiologi; patologi Cellbiologi; Human Anatomy; anatomi;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the molecular mechanisms of hyperthermia induced brain damage in rats. The results clearly establish that hyperthermia caused by 4 h heat stress at 38° C is associated with a breakdown of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability which seems to be instrumental in causing brain edema and cell injury. 4. 4. Pharmacological interventions against myocardial ischemia and reperfusion injury

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Lars O Karlsson; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2011]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Myocardial reperfusion injury; opioids; cyclosporine A;

    Abstract : Background: Ischaemic heart disease is the leading cause of death in the industrialised world. Although the concept of early restoration of coronary blood-flow constitutes an important factor to reduce the injury caused by myocardial ischaemia, reperfusion in itself can aggravate the damage to myocardial tissue, a phenomenon denoted myocardial reperfusion injury. 5. 5. Involvement of the Opioid System in High Alcohol Consumption Environmental and Genetic Influences

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Karolina Ploj; Uppsala universitet.; [2002]
