16. Colloidal synthesis of metal nanoparticles
Abstract : Metal nanoparticles (NPs) are central in a wide range of industrial areas including catalytic and biomedical applications. Due to their interesting physical properties, the demand of these precious materials is steadily increasing, which has created a need for the development of effective and high-performing NPs. 17. Measuring with pressure sensitive paint in time-varying flows
Abstract : Increasingly tougher legislation on internal combustion engine emissions drives the development towards smaller engines with higher efficiency where an important component is the gas-exchange system and especially the turbocharger. The flow in the gas-exchange system is inherently pulsating and unsteady and the present thesis aims at investigating if and how pressure sensitive paint (PSP) can be used for internal unsteady flows of relevance for engine applications. 18. Drop Break-up in High-Pressure Homogenisers
Abstract : The overall aim of this project was to investigate the drop break-up process in milk homogenisers. This was done by measurements and calculations of the flow fields in the gap region and by visualisation of drops being broken up. To make visualisation and measurements possible, two scale models of a homogeniser gap were developed. READ MORE

19. Towards Intelligent Deformable Models for Medical Image Analysis
Abstract : Medical imaging continues to permeate the practice of medicine, but automated yet accurate segmentation and labeling of anatomical structures continues to be a major obstacle to computerized medical image analysis (MIA). Deformable models, with its profound roots in estimation theory, optimization, and physics-based dynamical systems, represent a powerful approach to the general problem of medical image segmentation. 20. Optical Diagnostics of Non-thermal Plasmas and Plasma-assisted Combustion
Abstract : Non-thermal plasma is regarded as a collection of free electrons, ions and neutral particles that are not at local thermodynamic equilibrium. The high-energetic electrons formed in non-thermal plasmas are capable of generating chemically active species and modifying chemical kinetics in practical applications. READ MORE
