  1. 21. Optical modelling of conjugated polymers : from materials to devices

    Author : Nils-Krister Persson; Andy Monkman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Spectroscopic ellipsomctry; optical modelling; organic solar cell; conjugated polymer; polyfluorene; polythiophene; copolymer; fullerene blend; photovoltaic device; dielectric function; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Measurements and modelling of theoretical properties of polymer-based photovoltaic devices, PPVDs, are the subjects of this thesis. Modelling refers both to modelling of materials, based on extraction of the dielectric function, and to modelling of devices by computer simulation of the optical electrical field inside PPVDs. 2. 22. Eco-friendly Holocellulose Materials for Mechanical Performance and Optical Transmittance

    Author : Xuan Yang; Lars Berglund; Eero Kontturi; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Abstract : Cellulosic materials can be sustainable replacements for fossil-based plastics; yet for some applications improvements are needed for mechanical properties, optical transmittance and eco-friendly characteristics. In this thesis, holocellulose materials are investigated for this purpose, and processing-structure-property relationships are discussed. READ MORE

  3. 23. Modeling the Microstructure Evolution During and After Hot Working in Martensitic Steel

    Author : Nima Safara Nosar; John Ågren; Göran Engberg; Hans-Olof Andrén; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Modeling; Martensitic steel; Carbides; Carbide size distribution; Carbide volume fraction; Carbide shape factor; Modellering; Martensitiskt stål; karbider; karbidstorleksfördelning; karbidvolymfraktion; karbidformfaktor; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : In this study, the goal is to predict the microstructure evolution during and after the hot working of a martensitic stainless steel with 13% chromium using a physically-based model in the form of a MATLAB toolbox. This model is based on dislocation density theory and consists of coupled sets of evolution equations for dislocation, vacancies, recovery, recrystallization, and grain growth. READ MORE

  4. 24. Investigation of electrical and magnetic properties of nanoparticles and nanofibers with the aim to tailor material properties of nanocomposites

    Author : Anna Jänis; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; microscopy; ferrite; SiC; nanocomposite; nanowire; microwave absorbing properties; network analyzer; nanoparticle;

    Abstract : Nanocomposites are the subject of interest in this study which can be explained by the factum that using building blocks with dimensions in the nanosize range makes it possible to design and create new materials which can satisfy several functions at the same time for many applications. The applications of interest in this study belong to the microwave frequency region and for that reason a number of materials were investigated to define their microwave absorbing properties. 5. 25. Materials Science of Multilayer X-ray Mirrors

    Author : Naureen Ghafoor; Jens Birch; Claude Montcalm; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Soft X-rays; Multilayer mirrors; Magnetron sputtering; Interface engineering; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis treats the reflective and structural properties of multilayer structures. Soft X-ray multilayer mirrors intended as near-normal incidence reflective optics and polarizers in the water window (λ=2.4-4.4 nm) are the main focus. READ MORE
