  1. 1. Household salt as an emergency radiation dosemeter for retrospective dose assessments using optically stimulated luminescence

    University dissertation from Medical Radiation Physics, Lund University

    Author : Maria Christiansson; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2014]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Optically stimulated luminescence OSL ; household salt; NaCl; retrospective dosimetry; accident dosimetry;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Personer som arbetar med joniserande strålning inom t.ex. sjukvård, kärnteknik och forskning använder så kallade dosimetrar för att registrera hur mycket joniserande strålning (vilken stråldos) personen blivit utsatt för under ett arbetspass eller en arbetsmånad. 2. 2. Optically Stimulated Luminescence for Retrospective Radiation Dosimetry. The Use of Materials Close to Man in Emergency Situations

    University dissertation from Lund University, Faculty of Medicine

    Author : Therése Geber-Bergstrand; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2017]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Retrospective dosimetry; Emergency dosimetry; OSL;

    Abstract : If an accident or attack involving radiological or nuclear material were to happen, people from the general public would be at risk of exposure to ionising radiation. Unlike people working with ionising radiation, for whom level of exposure to radiation is constantly monitored with dosemeters, people from the general population do not wear dosemeters; thus, the dose estimations for these individuals must be performed using alternative methods. 3. 3. Post-Glacial History of Sea-Level and Environmental Change in the Southern Baltic Sea

    University dissertation from Department of Geology, Lund University

    Author : Marloes Kortekaas; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2007]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kartografi; klimatologi; Geofysik; fysisk oceanografi; physical oceanography; meteorology; Sedimentologi; Stratigrafi; Stratigraphy; Baltic Sea; geokemi; Petrologi; mineralogi; geochemistry; mineralogy; Petrology; greigite; mineral magnetics; sea-level changes; Holocene; Littorina transgression; geomorphology; pedology; cartography; climatology; meteorologi; Geophysics; Sedimentology; Optically Stimulated Luminescence OSL ; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; marklära; Physical geography;

    Abstract : A new palaeoenvironmental record of the post-glacial history of the southern Baltic Sea (~14 ka to present) is presented. During this period, large water level and salinity changes occurred in the Baltic Basin due to opening and closing of connections to the North Atlantic. READ MORE

  4. 4. Radiation exposure of human populations in villages in Russia and Belarus affected by fallout from the Chernobyl reactor

    University dissertation from Medical Radiation Physics, Lund University

    Author : Christian Bernhardsson; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2011]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chernobyl; caesium; effective dose; OSL; NaCl; TL; LiF; radiation protection survey instruments; deposition variability; long-term series;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Människan har alltid exponerats för joniserande strålning från radioaktiva ämnen i naturen och i sin egen kropp, samt från kosmisk strålning. Summan av exponeringen från dessa strålkällor blir ungefär 1 mSv per år. READ MORE

  5. 5. Comparison of dating methods for paleoglacial reconstruction in Central Asia

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Physical Geography, Stockholm University

    Author : Natacha Gribenski; Stockholms universitet.; [2016]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Paleoglaciation; Optically stimulated luminescence dating; Cosmogenic nuclide exposure dating; EMCCD camera; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Abstract : Reconstruction of former Central Asian glaciers extents can provide valuable information about past atmospheric circulation variations. These extents, often marked by terminal moraines, need to be chronologically constrained. Cosmogenic nuclide exposure (CNE) dating is widely used to directly date moraines. READ MORE
