  1. 1. The role of Swedish single-family dwellings in the electricity system - The importance and impacts of solar photovoltaics, demand response, and energy storage

    Author : Emil Nyholm; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electricity system models; Electric space heating; Batteries; Demand response; Single-family dwellings; Demand side management; Optimization; Solar photovoltaics; Distributed generation;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the role Swedish single-family dwellings can play in the electricity system. Both through becoming electricity producers through the use of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, and the possibilities of demand response (DR) and energy storage in combination with this, and through the DR of electric space heating in the dwellings. 2. 2. Spatio-temporal forecasting and optimization for integration of solar energy in urban energy systems

    Author : Dennis van der Meer; Joakim Widén; Pierre Pinson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; forecasting; photovoltaic; electricity use; net load; probabilistic; multivariate; optimization; Engineering Science with specialization in Civil Engineering and Built Environment; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot byggteknik och byggd miljö;

    Abstract : The increasing penetration of non-dispatchable renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic (PV) systems in the electricity generating mix poses challenges to the operational performance of the power system. On the demand side, advanced schemes that increase the flexibility of customer loads and the increase in electrification are set to noticeably alter electricity demand. READ MORE

  3. 3. Utilizing solar energy for anti-icing road surfaces using hydronic heating pavement with low temperature

    Author : Raheb Mirzanamadi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; solar energy; asphalt concrete; ground heat exchanger; anti-icing; optimization;

    Abstract : During summer, the surface temperature of an asphalt road pavement can rise up to 70°C due to absorbed solar radiation. The high temperature degrades the performance of the asphalt concrete by accelerating the thermal oxidation and plastic deformation, especially under heavy traffic loads. READ MORE

  4. 4. Solar receiver development for gas-turbine based solar dish systems

    Author : Lukas Aichmayer; Björn Laumert; Konstantinos Kyprianidis; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Concentrating solar power; volumetric solar receiver; development; experimental evaluation; validation; Koncentrerad solkraft; volumetrisk solmottagare; utveckling; experimentell utvärdering; validering; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : Small-scale concentrating solar power plants such as micro gas-turbine based solar dish systems have the potential to harness solar energy in an effective way and supply electricity to customers in remote areas. In such systems, the solar receiver transfers the power of concentrated solar radiation to the working fluid of the power conversion cycle. READ MORE

  5. 5. The morphology of polyfluorene : fullerene blend films for photovoltaic applications

    Author : Ana Sofia Anselmo; Håkan Rensmo; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials Science; Organic Photovoltaics; Polymer Solar Cells; Materialteknik; Materials Engineering;

    Abstract : Polymer photovoltaic systems whose photoactive layer is a blend of a semiconducting polymer with a fullerene derivative in a bulk heterojunction configuration are amongst the most successful organic photovoltaic devices nowadays. The three-dimensional organization in these layers (the morphology) plays a crucial role in the performance of the devices. READ MORE
