  1. 1. Synthesis and asymmetric transformations of diols by enzyme- and ruthenium catalysis

    Author : Karin Leijondahl; Jan-Erling Bäckvall; Kurt Faber; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dynamic kinetic asymmetric transformation; diols; enzymatic transformations; catalysis; ruthenium; transfer hydrogenation; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry; organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The major part of this thesis describes the synthesis of aliphatic secondary diols and the development of lipase- and ruthenium-catalyzed asymmetric transformations of these diols. Several acyclic 1,4-diols and 1,5-diols were synthesized, and by combining a lipase-catalyzed asymmetric transformation with a ruthenium-catalyzed epimerization, enantiomerically- and diastereomerically enriched diacetates were obtained. 2. 2. Enantioselective Synthesis of Sec-Alcohol Derivatives and Diols via Combined Ruthenium and Enzyme Catalysis

    Author : Linnéa Borén; Jan-Erling Bäckvall; Romas Kazlauskas; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; catalysis; kinetic resolution; ruthenium catalyst; Dynamic kinetic resolution; Dynamic Kinetic Asymmetric Transformation; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry; organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The first part of this thesis describes the synthesis of enantiopure secondary alcohol derivatives. These syntheses are carried out via the combination of an enzyme as a resolution catalyst and a ruthenium catalyst as a racemization catalyst, in what is called dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR). 3. 3. Transition Metal Catalysis for Selective Synthesis and Sustainable Chemistry

    Author : J. Johan Verendel; Pher G. Andersson; Reko Leino; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Catalysis; Transition metals; Asymmetric catalysis; Hydrogenation; Sustainable chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis discusses the preparation and use of transition-metal catalysts for selective organic chemical reactions. Specifically, two different matters have been studied; the asymmetric hydrogenation of carbon-carbon double bonds using N,P-ligated iridium catalysts and the metal-catalyzed transfer of small molecules from biomass to synthetic intermediates. 4. 4. Carbocation Catalysis for Organic Synthesis

    Author : Shengjun Ni; Johan Franzén; Bernd Plietker; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carbocation; trityl cation; Lewis acid catalyst; enantioselective; chiral counteranion; oxa-Diels–Alder; bromination; aldehyde–olefin metathesis; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The most common view of carbocations in organic chemistry is that they are short-lived intermediates in several fundamental reactions, e.g. the classic SN1-reaction. READ MORE

  5. 5. Development of New Synthetic Routes to Organoboronates by Catalytic Allylic Substitution and C-H bond Functionalization

    Author : Vilhelm Olsson; Kálmán Szabó; Gary A. Molander; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Palladium; Iridium; Boron; Catalysis; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the development of new catalytic methods for the synthesis and application of organometallic reagents, mainly focusing on allylboronic acid derivatives. Thus, palladium pincer-complex catalysis has been applied for extending the scope of palladiumcatalyzed borylation reactions in the synthesis of regio- and stereodefined functionalized allylboronic acid derivatives.
