  1. 1. BIOACTIVE ORGANOMETALLIC COMPOUNDS

    Author : Haris Bjelosevic; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biological; kinetic; gold; platinum; bioactive; phosphine; ruthenocene; Ferrocene;

    Abstract : Various metal complexes have been used in medicine traditionally, although their use was often connected with mystery and with a lack of empirically (clinically) proven effect. In modern times, the development of biochemistry, bioinorganic and bioorganometallic chemistry allows us more in-depth understanding of biological action of metal containing substances. READ MORE

  2. 2. Organometallic complexes with antimalarial properties

    Author : Lotta Glans; Kemisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioorganometallic chemistry; Chloroquine; Antimalarial; Drug resistance; Organometallic; Arene;

    Abstract : Malaria is a serious disease that causes around 800 000 deaths per year. Current malaria control efforts are hampered by the widespread resistance to common antimalarial drugs, such as the 4-aminoquinoline derivative called chloroquine. READ MORE

  3. 3. Breaking the symmetry: creation and transfer of optical activity via total spontaneous resolution and stereoselective reactions

    Author : Susanne Olsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; absolute asymmetric synthesis; enantioselective reactions; chirality; spontaneous resolution; conglomerate; organometallic chemistry; coordination compounds; attritionenhanced deracemisation; polymorphism; organolithium compounds; single-crystal X-ray crystallography;

    Abstract : The generation of optical activity from achiral or racemic precursors – absolute asymmetric synthesis – is discussed in relation to the origin of biomolecular homochirality but is also often (incorrectly) regarded as being impossible. One approach to absolute asymmetric synthesis is the use of compounds that form chiral crystals. READ MORE

  4. 4. Palladium-Catalyzed Synthesis and Transformations of Organometallic Compounds

    Author : Olov Wallner; Kálmán Szabó; Robin Bedford; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; palladium; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on two important fields of palladium catalysis: the development of electrophilic allylic substitution reactions via bis-allylpalladium intermediates; and application of palladium pincer-complexes in the synthesis and transformations of organometallic compounds.Palladium-catalyzed electrophilic allylation of aldehyde and imine substrates could be achieved using readily available allyl chlorides and acetates by employing hexamethylditin or bis(pinacolato)diboron reagents. 5. 5. Organic and organometallic compounds for nonlinear absorption of light

    Author : Per Lind; Bertil Eliasson; Adolf Gogoll; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : Organic chemistry; Nonlinear absorption; thiophene; platinum complexes; optical limiting; sonogashira coupling reactions; molecular orbital calculations; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The demand for protection of eyes and various types of optical sensors from laser-beam pulses has resulted in the search for optical limiting devices that have the property of being transparent at low intensity of light (normal light), but non-transparent towards high intensity (laser) light. This type of protection may be obtained by using an organic material that displays nonlinear optical (NLO) properties. READ MORE
