  1. 1. Non-Orthogonality and Electron Correlations in Nanotransport : Spin- and Time-Dependent Currents

    Author : Jonas Fransson; Antti-Pekka Jauho; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; non-orthogonality; non-equilibrium; transport; nanosystem; quantum dot; spin-dependent; renormalization; Green function; diagram technique; many-body states; Hubbard operator; electron correlations; time-dependent; Fysik; icke-ortogonal; icke-jämvikt; transport; nanosystem; kvantprick; spinberoende; renormering; Green-funktion; diagramteknik; mångkropparstillstånd; Hubbadoperator; elektronkorrelationer; tidsberoende; Physics; Fysik; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The concept of the transfer Hamiltonian formalism has been reconsidered and generalized to include the non-orthogonality between the electron states in an interacting region, e.g. quantum dot (QD), and the states in the conduction bands in the attached contacts. READ MORE

  2. 2. The Diamond Lemma for Power Series Algebras

    Author : Lars Hellström; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical analysis; diamond lemma; power series algebra; Gröbner basis; embedding into skew fields; archimedean element in semigroup; q-deformed Heisenberg--Weyl algebra; polynomial degree; ring norm; Birkhoff orthogonality; filtered structure; Matematisk analys; Mathematical analysis; Analys; Mathematics; matematik;

    Abstract : The main result in this thesis is the generalisation of Bergman's diamond lemma for ring theory to power series rings. This generalisation makes it possible to treat problems in which there arise infinite descending chains. READ MORE

  3. 3. Higher Order Finite Elements and Adaptivity in Computational Electromagnetics

    Author : Pär Ingelström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : This thesis is concerned with efficient and accurate numerical methods for the solution of Maxwell's equations. In particular, the finite element method with higher order elements and adaptive mesh-refinement is considered. READ MORE

  4. 4. Orthonormal Motion-Adaptive Transforms for Image Sequences

    Author : Du Liu; Markus Flierl; Peter Schelkens; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we propose and discuss a class of motion-adaptive transforms (MAT) to describe the temporal correlation in image sequences for compression. The temporal correlation is based on motion models, and undirected graphs are used to represent this correlation in image sequences. The transforms are adaptive to general motion fields. READ MORE

  5. 5. Multiscale analysis of multi-channel signals

    Author : Håkan Carlqvist; Jan-Olov Strömberg; Maria Hansson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical statistics; Matematisk statistik; Mathematical statistics; Matematisk statistik;

    Abstract : I: Amplitude and phase relationship between alpha and beta oscillations in the human EEG We have studied the relation between two oscillatory patterns within EEG signals (oscillations with main frequency 10 Hz and 20 Hz), with wavelet-based methods. For better comparison, a variant of the continuous wavelet transform, was derived. READ MORE
