  1. 11. Antibody-Based Radionuclide Targeting for Diagnostics and Therapy : Preclinical Studies on Head and Neck Cancer

    Author : Marika Nestor; Matti Anniko; Jörgen Carlsson; Hans Lundqvist; Vladimir Tolmachev; Matthew Robinson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Otorhinolaryngology; antibodies; radionuclide targeting; tumour targeting; therapy; diagnostics; immuno-PET; head and neck squamous cell carcinoma; Otorhinolaryngologi;

    Abstract : Antibody-based targeting techniques play an increasingly important role in cancer research. By targeting a structure that is abundant in tumour cells, but rare in healthy tissues, an antibody can mediate the delivery of radioactivity specifically to tumour cells in the body. READ MORE

  2. 12. The Round Window Membrane - Gateway to the Cochlea : A Morphological and Electrophysiological study

    Author : Leif Nordang; Sten Hellström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Otorhinolaryngology; round window membrane; pseudomonas exotoxin; auditory brainstem response; hearing loss; endolymphatic sac; inner ear immunology; glutamate; nitric oxide inhibitor; glucocorticoid.; Otorhinolaryngologi; Otorhinolaryngology; Otorhinolaryngologi; Oto-Rhino-Laryngology; oto-rhino-laryngologi;

    Abstract : Topical treatment of several inner ear diseases through the round window membrane (RWM) might be feasible in the near future. Bacteria toxins, ototoxic drugs and noise trauma seem to harm the inner ear by a common pathway which involves, excessive outflow of the afferent neurotransmitter glutamate and formation of nitric oxide (NO), which can severely damage cells/nerve endings and lead to cell death. 3. 13. Idiopathic Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss in Sweden : Diagnostic Protocol and Treatment in Relation to Outcome

    Author : Ramesh Nosrati-Zarenoe; Elisabeth Hultcrantz; Stig Arlinger; Leif Hergils; Barbara Canlon; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Otorhinolaryngology; Otorhinolaryngologi;

    Abstract : Idiopathic Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (ISSNHL) is a rapid loss of hearing caused by damage to the cochlea (inner ear) or auditory nerve. Spontaneous recovery has been seen in 32% - 81%. The incidence of the ISSNHL has been estimated to be between 5 and 20 per 100,000 per year. READ MORE

  4. 14. Nitric Oxide in the Inner Ear with Particular Regard to Neurotansmission and Pharmacotherapy

    Author : Raul Popa; Diana Berggren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Otorhinolaryngology; Otorhinolaryngologi; Otorhinolaryngology; Otorhinolaryngologi; Medicine; medicin;

    Abstract : Research into nitric oxide (NO) in the inner ear has expanded explosively during recent years. There is evidence that NO is present in the various cochlear structures and its action is involved in physiological mechanisms, such as neurotransmission, and in pathological processes, e.g. ototoxicity. 5. 15. Sleep Disordered Breathing and Orofacial Morphology in Relation to Adenotonsillar Surgery : Development from 4-12 Years in a Community Based Cohort

    Author : Britta Tideström Löfstrand; Elisabeth Hultcrantz; Åke Tegelberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; snoring; children; epiddemiology; adenotonsilloectomy; craniofacial development; Otorhinolaryngology; Otorhinolaryngologi; Oto-Rhino-Laryngology; oto-rhino-laryngologi;

    Abstract : Objective: To follow a cohort of children from age 4-6-12 with respect to sleep disordered breathing (SDB) and orofacial development. Questionnaires were completed about sleep, snoring, apneas, enuresis, sucking habits, and adenotonsillar surgery and, from age 12, about allergies, asthma, and general health. READ MORE
