  2. 2. Ovarian cancer : Treatment results, prognostic factors, and tumor marker surveillance

    Author : Thomas Högberg; Claes Tropé; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The total population-based material of 426 ovarian malignancies in the Southeast Health Care Region of Sweden during 1984-1987 was surveyed. It seems that with a program of cytoreductive surgery followed by a cisplatinum chemotherapy combination in the metastasizing cases the overall survival figures have improved. READ MORE

  3. 3. Tight juntion in ovarian surface epithelium and epithelial ovarian tumors

    Author : Yihong Zhu; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : junction; claudin; ovarian surface epithelium; epithelial ovarian tumor; TGF-?1;

    Abstract : Epithelial ovarian cancer originating from ovarian surface epithelium (OSE) is the most lethal type of gynecological cancer among women worldwide. The poor understanding of the cellular and molecular events associated with ovarian carcinogenesis leads to difficulties in early diagnosis and in efficient treatment. READ MORE

  4. 4. Hunting a Silent Killer. Biomolecular Approaches in Ovarian Cancer

    Author : Nicolai Arildsen; Bröstcancer-genetik; []

    Abstract : Ovarian cancer is a heterogeneous disease and recent advances in improving patient outcome havebeen limited. It is estimated that a woman’s risk of developing ovarian cancer during her lifetime is about 1 in 70, making it a frequently occurring cancer type in women. READ MORE

    Abstract : Background: Epithelial ovarian cancer and borderline ovarian tumors consist of several histotypes in which high-grade serous carcinoma is the most common. The majority of epithelial ovarian tumors are considered to originate in the fimbriated end of the fallopian tubes. What initiates these tumors is far from completely understood. READ MORE
