1. k-space Models in MRI Using the Concept of Partitions, Applications with special reference to Overhauser-enhanced techniques
Abstract : A new model describing the image formation in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been developed. The k-space description of MRI pulse sequences is expanded by introducing new dimensions to describe the phase dispersion due to flow, acceleration, jerk, diffusion and magnetic field inhomogeneities. 2. Internal rotation in molecules : a nuclear magnetic resonance relaxation study
Abstract : In order to study the internal rotation of methyl-type groups in molecules, the carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spin-lattice relaxation times (T1) and nuclear Overhauser enhancement factors (n) are measured for some terpenes (borneol, camphor, isopinocampheol and α-pinene), for octafluorotoluene and for 1-methylnaphtalene. In addition, deuterium NMR T1 data are presented for 1-methylnaphtalene-d10. READ MORE

3. NMR studies of Carbohydrate Structure and Dynamics in Solution
Abstract : Methods for studies of the structures of carbohydrates in solution and their dynamics are presented. Approaches employing nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, mass spectrometry (MS), force-field computer simulations and chemical methods are described. READ MORE

4. Structural and conformational studies of bacterial polysaccharides employing NMR spectroscopy
Abstract : Methods and approaches for performing structural and conformational analysis of bacterial polysaccharides in solution are described. The structure of one exopolysaccharide from Lactobacillus helveticus and two O-antigens from Escherichia coli have been determined using NMR spectroscopy, chemical degradation and mass spectrometry. 5. Design and Synthesis of Serine and Aspartic Protease Inhibitors
Abstract : This thesis describes the design and synthesis of compounds that areintended to inhibit serine and aspartic proteases. The first part of the text deals with preparation of inhibitors of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS3 serine protease. Hepatitis C is predominantly a chronic disease that afflicts about 170 million people worldwide. READ MORE
