  2. 2. Oxygen formation in the chlorate process and preparation and deactivation of ozone selective anodes

    Author : Staffan Sandin; Ann M. Cornell; Paul Christensen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATO; EOP; ozone; electrode preparation; elec- trode deactivation; hypochlorite; chlorate; oxygen; chromium VI ; sodium dichromate; electrocatalysis; catalysis; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents experimental studies concerning two differ-ent electrolytic processes. One part deals with the electrochemicalformation of ozone and focuses on the preparation and deactiva-tion of a highly ozone-selective metal oxide anode (NATO - nickeland antimony doped tin oxide). 3. 3. Impact of Rossby waves on ozone distribution and dynamics of the stratosphere and troposphere

    Author : Grigory Nikulin; Sheila Kirkwood; Ulrike Langematz; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Meteorology; ozone; wave activity; trends; Brewer-Dobson circulation; Rossby waves; Arctic Oscillation; low ozone events; Meteorologi; Meteorology; Meteorologi; Meteorology; meteorologi;

    Abstract : Several physical mechanisms concerning the impact of Rossby waves on ozone distribution and circulation in the stratosphere and troposphere are studied in the thesis.Summertime total ozone variability over Middle Asia and Northern Scandinavia shows similar wave-like behaviour with typical periods of 10-20 days and amplitudes of 20-50 Dobson units. 4. 4. Formation, ageing and thermal properties of secondary organic aerosol

    Author : Eva U. Emanuelsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; volatile organic compounds; biogenic; anthropogenic; secondary organic aerosol; troposphere; volatility; ozone;

    Abstract : In order to properly represent and predict the effects of aerosol in climate systems, an accurate description of their formation and properties is needed. This thesis describes work done to increase the knowledge of processes and properties of atmospherically relevant secondary organic aerosol (SOA) from both biogenic and anthropogenic origin. 5. 5. Atmospheric Chemistry of Volatile Organic Compounds: Oxidation Products, Mechanisms and Secondary Organic Aerosol Formation

    Author : Julia Hammes; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SOA; VOC; anthropogenic; biogenic; FIGAERO; CIMS; HOMs; ELVOCs; atmospheric oxidation; chemical mechanism; NOx; limonene; a-pinene; TMB; ozone; nitrate; OH; radical chemistry; RO2; G-FROST; GO:PAM;

    Abstract : The results from this work are a piece in understanding the complex puzzle of atmospheric aerosol formation. Secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formed by the oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in the atmosphere is a key component of air pollution with a strong negative impact on human health and influence on climate, but its formation is poorly understood.
