  1. 1. A Computational Fluid Dynamics Study on Physical Refining of Steel Melts by Filtration

    Author : Shahin Akbarnejad; Dongyuan Sheng; Pär Göran Jönsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Steel refining; Steel filtration; Alumina filters; Ceramic filters; Metallurgical process science; Metallurgisk processvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : In this paper, a previous experimental investigation on physical refining of steel melts by filtration was numerically studied. To be specific, filtration of non-metallic alumina inclusions, in the size range of 1 to 100 [μm], from steel melt by using a square-celled monolithic alumina filter was simulated. READ MORE

  2. 2. Hot Deformation Behaviour and Processing Map of Cast Alloy 825

    Author : Munir Al-Saadi; Christopher Hulme-Smith; Fredrik Sandberg; Pär Jönsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Alloy 825; Hot-deformation; Stress-strain curve; Activation energy; Dynamically recrystallized; grain size; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : Alloy 825 is a nickel-based alloy that is commonly used in applications where both high strength and corrosion resistance are required. Applications include tanks in the chemical, food and petrochemical industries and oil and gas pipelines. Components made from Alloy 825 are often manufactured using hot deformation. READ MORE

  3. 3. Indoor hygrothermal condition and user satisfaction in naturally ventilated historic houses in temperate humid continental climate around the Baltic Sea

    Author : Uellar Alev; Targo Kalamees; Lari Eskola; Endrik Arumägi; Juha Jokisalo; Anna Donarelli; Kai Siren; Tor Broström; Estonia. EE-19086 Tallinn Bldg Phys & Energy Efficiency Tallinn Univ Technol; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; indoor climate; traditional vernacular architecture; user satisfaction; mould growth; rural houses; moisture load;

    Abstract : Indoor climate and user satisfaction were analysed by field measurement and a questionnaire in 67 traditional rural houses in Estonia, Finland and Sweden. Our findings showed that the indoor climate in all the investigated historic rural houses needs improvement. The room temperature was mainly too low during winter. READ MORE

  5. 5. Multi-group theory of neutron noise induced by vibrating boundaries

    Author : Vasily Arzhanov; []
    Keywords : diagnostics;

    Abstract : The paper extends the one-group analysis of the neutron noise induced by fluctuating boundaries [Ann. Nucl. Energy 27(2000)1385] to the general multi-group non-homogeneous model. The full solution is given through the Green's function of the static problem, the static flux, and a quantity describing the boundary movements. READ MORE
