  1. 11. Prognostic and predictive factors in colorectal cancer

    Author : Kristoffer Derwinger; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : colorectal cancer; prognosis; lymph nodes; lymph node ratio; MTHFR; cyclin E; TNM; staging; metastasis;

    Abstract : Aim: The aim of the thesis was to study prognostic and predictive factors in patients treated for colorectal cancer (CRC). Method: In paper I, a retrospective comparison was made between the patients treated in 1999 (n=180) with those treated in 2004 (n=175). READ MORE

  2. 12. Nanofabrication processes for high-aspect ratio X-ray zone plates

    Author : Hanna Ohlin Ohlin; Ulrich Vogt; Matias Kagias; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : The field of nanofabrication is vast, and there are many methods available to facilitate the fabrication of different types of structures. Nanostructured materials make up critical infrastructure in fields like medical technology, energy storage and production, computer science and more. READ MORE

  3. 13. Determinants of hearing impairment in Swedish hunters : an e-epidemiological approach

    Author : Louise Honeth; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background: 290 236 persons bought a hunting license in Sweden 2014/15. Hunters are spread all over the country and come from all socioeconomic groups. Recreational fiearms can produce peak noise levels between 156-164 decibel sound pressure levels (dB SPL). READ MORE

  4. 14. A study of mu-mu- and e-mu-pairs produced in 450 GeV/c p-Be--collisions in HELIOS, and software development for DELPHI

    Author : Sverker Johansson; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik;

    Abstract : The main part of this thesis treats measurements in the HELIOS experiment of the production of e-mu and mu+mu-pairs in 450 GeV/c p-Be collisions. The mumu measurement covers the kinematical covers the kinematical range of 2Mmu < M < 1.5 GeV, 0.03 < xF < 0. READ MORE

  5. 15. Absorbed Dose Determination and Characteristics of Degraded Electron Beams: Application to Intraoperative Radiation Therapy

    Author : Peter Björk; Internmedicin - epidemiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; absorbed dose distribution; output factor; stopping-power ratio; beam characteristics; Monte Carlo calculation; electron beam dosimetry; applicator system; radiation therapy; linear accelerator; intraoperative radiotherapy;

    Abstract : The aim of this work was to quantify limitations of and uncertainties in commonly used dosimetric techniques for relative absorbed dose determination in degraded electron beams, such as those encountered in intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) and small-electron-field radiotherapy. Three different detector types were investigated with regard to measurements of output factors and relative absorbed dose distributions: (1) a parallel-plate ionization chamber, (2) a p-type silicon diode detector and (3) a diamond detector.
