    Abstract : III-Nitride semiconductors are very promising in both electronics and optical devices. The ability of the III-Nitride semiconductors as light emitters to span the electromagnetic spectrum from deep ultraviolet light, through the entire visible region, and into the infrared part of the spectrum, is a very important feature, making this material very important in the field of light emitting devices. 2. 17. Phosphorus speciation in Swedish agricultural clay soils : influence of fertilisation and mineralogy

    Author : Ann Kristin Eriksson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Phosphorus (P) is an important element for crop production, but build-up of excess soil P can promote P leaching and eutrophication of surface waters. To better understand the dynamics of P release from soil to waters, more knowledge is needed about sorption patterns and P speciation in agricultural soils. READ MORE

  3. 18. Metabolic, methodological and developmental aspects of body composition : Studies in women and children with special reference to early life mechanisms behind childhood obesity

    Abstract : In recent decades the number of children with overweight has increased worldwide. To understand the mechanisms behind this development, knowledge regarding metabolism and physiology in relation to the nutritional situation in early life is of importance. READ MORE

  4. 19. On the semitendinosus tendon in anterior cruciate ligament reconstructive surgery

    Author : Karl O Eriksson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Semitendinosus; anterior cruciate ligament; tendon regeneration; MRI; muscle morphology; muscle biopsy; tendon-to-bone healing; donor site morbidity; functional outcome;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to address issues concerning the use of the semitendinosus tendon as an autologous transplant in anterior cruciate ligament reconstructive surgery. The specific objectives of the study concern the regenerative capability of the semitendinosus tendon following its harvest, the morphology and function of the semitendinosus muscle following harvesting of its tendon, the potential for ingrowth of the semitendinosus tendon graft into the bone tunnels, the early postoperative morbidity after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with a quadruple sernitendinosus graft as compared to the commonly used bone-patellar tendon-bone graft and, finally, the outcome at a minimum 2-year follow-up on comparing the sernitendinosus tendon graft with the bone-patellar tendon-bone graft. 5. 20. Recruitment and distribution patterns of plants in Swedish semi-natural grasslands

    Author : Åsa Eriksson; Brita Svensson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Abstract : Semi-natural pastures with different histories of management are nowadays the main remnants of the traditional agrarian landscape in southern Sweden. The aims of this thesis were to investigate the importance of features of the present-day landscape and its management history for species distribution and abundance patterns in Swedish semi-natural pastures, with a particular focus on factors affecting recruitment processes.
