  1. 1. Outcome after surgery of congenital cataract

    Author : Anna Lundvall; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Congenital cataract; cataract surgery; intraocular lens; infant; paediatric; rabbit; complication; glaucoma; after-cataract; posterior capsule opacification.;

    Abstract : The visual outcome in infants undergoing surgery for bilateral congenital cataract has improved considerably because of improved surgical methods and the realisation that early detection, allowing early cataract extraction and immediate optical correction, can prevent otherwise irreversible deprivation amblyopia. The management of unilateral congenital cataract is still of the most difficult problems in paediatric ophtalmology. READ MORE

  2. 2. Moral (de)coupling : moral disengagement and supply chain management

    Author : David Eriksson; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; abduction; CSR; Corporate Social Responsibility; critical realism; ethics; moral decoupling point; moral disengagement; moral responsibility; supply chain management; sustainability; systematic combining; textile management; TBL; Triple bottom line; Textiles and Fashion General ; Textil och mode generell ;

    Abstract : This research aims to fill an important gap in focusing on why individuals are able to take part in and/or support activities that have effects on economic, environmental, and social dimensions that are not consistent with their sense of right and wrong. 3. 3. Risk, reproducibility, and reproduction : Essays on scholar’s analytic decisions and consumers' product purchases

    Author : Jacob Dalgaard Christensen; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates how evolutionary biology theories can be used to better understand consumer behavior. The first paper lays the groundwork for the methodologies used throughout the thesis. Here, the focus is on the (ab-)use of p-values and how easy it is to find a false-positive research result under different common circumstances. READ MORE

  4. 4. Microrheology of Concentrated Protein Solutions

    Author : Tommy Garting; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microrheology; Dynamic Light Scattering; Protein; Pegylation; Viscosity;

    Abstract : The behavior of concentrated protein solutions is of general high interest due to implications in, for example, biological systems and medical applications. It is necessary to investigate the rheological properties of such systems to understand how parameters, such as stability, are affected by the high concentrations. READ MORE

  5. 5. Control of bioluminescence. Operating the light switch in photophores from marine animals

    Author : Jenny Krönström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bioluminescence; physiological control; nitric oxide; krill; fish;

    Abstract : Physiologically controlled photocytes, capable of producing bioluminescence, are a common feature in the ocean among animals ranging from cnidarians to fish. The aim of this thesis was to study and compare the nature of this control, in both distantly and closely related species from the groups Teleostei Crustacea, and Cnidaria. READ MORE
