1. Elements of AlGaN-Based Light Emitters
Abstract : The III-nitrides have enabled a range of optoelectronic devices and associated applications of great industrial and societal importance. However, the full potential of the III-nitrides remains to be explored. READ MORE

2. Towards Novel AlGaN-Based Light Emitters
Abstract : The unique properties of the AlGaN semiconductors make them a suitable choice for optoelectronic devices at both short and long wavelengths, based on interband and intersubband transitions, respectively. What sets AlGaN apart from other wide-bandgap semiconductors is the possibility to obtain both p- and n-type conductivity as well as the direct bandgap. READ MORE

3. Clinical and genetic studies of three inherited skeletal disorders
Abstract : Mutations in genes of importance for cartilage development may lead to skeletal malformations, chondroskeletal dysfunction and increased susceptibility to degenerative joint disease. Characterization of these mutations and identification of molecular pathways for the corresponding gene products have contributed to our understanding of mechanisms regulating skeletal patterning, endochondral ossification and joint formation. 4. The organisation of diabetes care for persons with type 2 diabetes mellitus : A nationwide cross-sectional study in Swedish primary health care
Abstract : Aim To extend the current knowledge about changes in Swedish diabetes care from 2006 to 2013 (Paper I), and to investigate the association between personnel resources and organisational features of primary health care centres (PHCCs) and the individual level of glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) among persons with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) (Paper II).Methods The longitudinal cross-sectional study described in Paper I included a total of 684 (74. 5. Endogenous hormones in the etiology of ovarian and endometrial cancers
Abstract : The main purpose of this thesis was to examine the relationship of pre-diagnostic circulating levels of sex-steroids (androgens and estrogens), sex hormone binding globuline (SHBG), insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I), IGF binding proteins (BP) and C-peptide (as a marker of pancreatic insulin secretion) with risk of ovarian and endometrial cancer. Additionally, the interrelationships of body mass index (BMI), sex-steroids, IGF-I and IGFBP-3 were examined. READ MORE
