  1. 1. Computer Simulations of Heterogenous Biomembranes

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry (MMK), Stockholm University

    Author : Joakim P. M. Jämbeck; Stockholms universitet.; [2014]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular simulation; force field development; biological membranes; free energy calculations; rational drug design; solute-membrane interactions; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Molecular modeling has come a long way during the past decades and in the current thesis modeling of biological membranes is the focus. The main method of choice has been classical Molecular Dynamics simulations and for this technique a model Hamiltonian, or force field (FF), has been developed for lipids to be used for biological membranes. 2. 2. Optimization of time domain induced polarization data acquisition and spectral information content

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry (MMK), Stockholm University

    Author : P.-I. Olsson; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2016-02-16]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; induced polarization 1P ; DCIP; spectral information; Data quality; Signal Processing;

    Abstract : The need for detailed subsurface information is increasing due to city expansion and infill projects as well as subsurface construction projects. One common method for acquiring this geo-information is the direct current resistivity and time domain induced polarization method (DCIP) that measures the electrical resistivity and chargeability of the subsurface. 3. 3. Strain-assisted corrosion cracking and growth rate inhibitors

    University dissertation from Andrey Jivkov, Solid Mechanics, Malmö University, SE-205 06 Malmö, Sweden

    Author : Andrey P Jivkov; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2002]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vacuum technology; vibration and acoustic engineering; Maskinteknik; hydraulik; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik; materialteknik; Mechanical engineering; Material technology; Materiallära; Stress intensity factor; Inhomogeneous materials; Crack evolution; Stress corrosion cracking; Moving boundary; hydraulics;

    Abstract : A model for evolution of cracks as a result of strain-assisted corrosion is presented. The considered cracks possess a realistic geometry, where the tip region is an integral part of the crack surface instead of being a singular point. This geometry is either implicitly defined or is a consequence of crack nucleation from surface irregularities. READ MORE

  4. 4. A flexible resonance sensor system for detection of cancer tissue evaluation on silicon

    University dissertation from Umeå : Department of Applied Physics and Electronics, Umeå University

    Author : Anders P. Åstrand; Umeå universitet.; Umeå universitet.; [2012]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The most common form of cancer among men in Europe and the US is prostate cancer. When a radical prostatectomy has been found necessary, it is of interest to examine the prostate, as tumour tissue on the capsule might indicate that the cancer has metastased. This is commonly done by a microscope-based morphometric investigation. READ MORE

  5. 5. Thrombin activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor (TAFI) in different hemorrhagic and thrombotic conditions

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Surgical Science

    Author : Jovan P Antovic; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2003]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Thrombin activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor TAFI ; coagulation; fibrinolysis; thrombin; plasmin; factor V Leiden; hemophilia; von Willebrand disease; diabetes mellitus; preeclampsia;

    Abstract : Until recently the coagulation and fibrinolytic systems were usually considered as separate entities. Accounts of a fibrinolysis inhibitor that is generated by thrombin shed more light on this field and changed the concept by giving thrombin, the pivotal enzyme in hemostasis, another important role in the down-regulation of fibrinolysis.
