  1. 1. Paleoglaciology of the Tian Shan and Altai Mountains, Central Asia

    Author : Robin Blomdin; Arjen P. Stroeven; Clas Hättestrand; Jonathan M. Harbor; Lewis Owen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Paleoglaciology; glacial geomorphological mapping; cosmogenic nuclide dating; Tian Shan; Altai Mountains; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Abstract : The mountain-systems of Central Asia, act as barriers to atmospheric circulation patterns, which in turn impose striking climate gradients across the region. Glaciers are sensitive indicators of climate change and respond to changes in climate gradients over time by advancing during cold and wet periods and receding during warm and dry periods. READ MORE

  2. 2. Macroscopic models of Chinese hamster ovary cell cultures

    Author : Erika Hagrot; Véronique Chotteau; Anders Forsgren; Nathan E. Lewis; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chinese hamster ovary; Amino acid; Metabolic network; Metabolic flux analysis; Kinetic modeling; Elementary flux mode; Optimization; Column generation; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Abstract : Biopharmaceuticals treat a range of diseases, and is a growing sector within the pharmaceutical industry. A majority of these complex molecules are produced by genetically modified mammalian cells in large-scale cell cultures. READ MORE

  3. 3. Aspects of locomotor evolution in the Carnivora (Mammalia)

    Author : Ki Andersson; Lars E. Holmer; Lars Werdelin; Margaret E. Lewis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Morphology; Mammalia; Carnivora; Locomotion; Cranial; Elbow joint; Morphology; Morphometrics; Landmarks; Multivariate statistics; Allometry; Ecomorphology; Dental; Body size; Morfologi; Morphology; cell biology; pathology; Morfologi; cellbiologi; patologi;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the shape of the distal humerus trochlea is analysed using landmark-based morphometrics and multivariate methods, with the aim of exploring locomotor evolution in carnivorans. Elbow joint morphology is used together with body size and craniodental morphology to characterize past and present carnivorans. READ MORE

  4. 4. The Use of N,P-Iridium and N,P-Palladium Complexes in Asymmetric Synthesis

    Author : Wangchuk Rabten; Pher Andersson; Virginie Vidal; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Iridium; Asymmetric Hydrogenation; Palladium; Asymmetric Cycloisomerization and Hosomi-Sakurai Allylation; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis concerns asymmetric catalysis using chiral N,P-ligands and iridium or palladium transition metals. The first part  (Chapters 2 and 3) highlights the N,P-iridium catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of 1,4-cyclohexadienes having functionalized or unfunctionalized substituents, including allylsilane side chains. 5. 5. Studies on the biosynthesis of ABH and Lewis epitopes on O-glycans

    Author : Jonas Löfling; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Fucose; Lewis antigen; Blood group ABH; biosynthesis;

    Abstract : ABH and Lewis antigens are carbohydrate epitopes (glycans) found on a wide variety of cell surfaces. They are involved in many biological processes, e.g transplantation rejection, bacterial and viral adhesion, cell-cell communication and metastasis. The in vivo synthesis of glycans is mediated by glycosyltransferases (GTs). READ MORE
