  1. 1. Olfactory Metacognition : A Metamemory Perspective on Odor Naming

    Author : Fredrik Jönsson; Mats Olsson; Henrik Olsson; Egon P. Köster; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; odor identification; odor naming; metamemory; confidence; tip of the tongue experience; tip of the nose experience; feeling of knowing; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Abstract : Although many aspects of odor naming have received attention during the years, the participants' own cognitions (metamemory) about their naming attempts have not. (i) We showed that feeling of knowing (FOK) judgments accompanying odor naming failures are predictive of later recognition (Study I) or retrieval (Study III) of the missing name, but to a lesser degree than equivalent judgments about names of persons. 2. 2. Optimization of time domain induced polarization data acquisition and spectral information content

    Author : P.-I. Olsson; Teknisk geologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; induced polarization 1P ; DCIP; spectral information; Data quality; Signal Processing;

    Abstract : The need for detailed subsurface information is increasing due to city expansion and infill projects as well as subsurface construction projects. One common method for acquiring this geo-information is the direct current resistivity and time domain induced polarization method (DCIP) that measures the electrical resistivity and chargeability of the subsurface. 3. 3. Human Rationality : Observing or Inferring Reality

    Author : Maria P. Henriksson; Mats Fredrikson; Henrik Olsson; Klaus Fiedler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; supervised learning; unsupervised learning; adaptation; niche picking; prototypes; rules; exemplar memory.; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the boundary of human rationality and how psychological processes interact with underlying regularities in the environment and affect beliefs and achievement. Two common modes in everyday experiential learning, supervised and unsupervised learning were hypothesized to tap different ecological and epistemological approaches to human adaptation; the Brunswikian and the Gibsonian approach. 4. 4. Interplay Between Environment and Genes on Morphological Variation in Perch – Implications for Resource Polymorphisms

    Author : Jens Olsson; Peter Eklöv; Mats Björklund; Richard Svanbäck; Andrew P. Hendry; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Ecology; Perch; Resource polymorphism; Genetic differentiation; Phenotypic plasticity; Morphology; Competition; Character divergence; Behavior; Growth rate; Resource level; Gut lenght; Ekologi;

    Abstract : Recent research has suggested that individual specialization within populations could be substantial and more common than previously acknowledged. Eurasian perch is one of many species of fish in lakes of postglacial origin that displays a morphological and dietary variation tightly coupled to the littoral and pelagic habitats of the lake. 5. 5. Hyponatremia - Early differential diagnosis, management and prognosis

    Author : Karin Olsson; Kardiovaskulär forskning - hypertoni; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hyponatremia; differential diagnosis; Biomarkers; apelin; vasopressin; Prognosis and survival; bioreactance;

    Abstract : Abstract Hyponatremia is the most common electrolyte imbalance. It is associated with increased morbidity and in-hospital mortality. An effective early management is dependent on knowledge of epidemiology in the current population, accurate assessment of patient volume status and efficient diagnostic investigation. READ MORE
