  1. 1. Interactions of satellite phage P4 with its helpers : P2 and WΦ phages

    Author : Liu Tao; Karin Hammer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetics; genetik;

    Abstract : Bacteriophage P4 is a defective phage that needs a helper phage to grow lytically, since it lacks structural genes and genes encoding host cell lysis functions. P4 has the capacity to derepress the unrelated prophage P2, or its relatives after infection, thereby getting access to the late functions of the helper. READ MORE

  2. 2. Studies on lipid transport and extracellular vesicle production in Caenorhabditis elegans ciliated neurons

    Author : Shapour Rahmani; Simon Tuck; Jonathan D. Gilthorpe; Anders Olsen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; C. elegans; cilia; extracellular vesicles; tat; phospholipid translocase; P4-family ATPase;

    Abstract : The cilium is a protrusion of cell membrane. Both the protein and lipid contents of cilia are different from those of other parts of the cell membrane. While the transport of proteins into and out of cilia has been intensively studied, much less is known about how the lipid content of ciliary membranes is regulated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Factors of importance for the outcome of IVF-treatment in women with tubal infertility

    Author : György Csemiczky; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : In vitro fertilization; grade of tubal damage; extent of reconsructive surgery; E2; P4; prognostic factors; ovarian failure; endometrium; implantation.;

    Abstract : In vitro fertilization embryo transfer (IVF-ET) is a well-established infertility treatment caused by damage of the fallopian tube, which is one of the largest diagnostic categories in most IVF programs. This study evaluates factors of importance for the outcome of IVF-treatment: age, tubal damage grade, extent of reconstructive surgery, endocrine ovarian function and endometrial development. 4. 4. The role of progesterone in the regulation of ciliary activity in the fallopian tube

    Author : Magdalena Nutu; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : progesterone; progesterone receptor; non-genomic progesterone receptor; ciliated cells; fallopian tube; gamete transport; ciliary activity; ciliary beat frequency; reproduction; fertility;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate the distribution and regulation of membrane progesterone receptors (mPRs) that may be involved in regulating ciliary activity in the fallopian tube. The fallopian tube serves to transport the egg and spermatozoa to achieve fertilization. READ MORE

  5. 5. Progesterone profiles, oestrus expression and pregnancy in dairy cows

    Author : Sofia Nyman; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The cow’s ability to reproduce is essential for milk production. Traditionally genetic evaluations for fertility have been based on measures on insemination- and calving dates, which in general are highly influenced by on-farm decisions. Unfortunately, the low heritability of classical fertility traits makes the genetic improvement slow. READ MORE
