1. Wood hydrolysates- New concepts in renewable material design
Abstract : Wood hydrolysates (WHs) are biomasses obtained in processes involving hydrothermal treatments of wood. WHs are rich in hemicelluloses and lignin. Instead of complicated extraction processes, such as precipitation, or extensive purification, this work utilizes the crude WHs. READ MORE

2. Wood Hydrolysate for Renewable Products
Abstract : Renewable biomass has been used by mankind for a long time for different purposes, from simply food to industrial products. Among a large family of polysaccharides, hemicellulose is non-edible but has shown a potential in many industrial fields such as medicine, agriculture and packaging. READ MORE

3. Macroscopic Volume and Free Volume of Polymer Blends and Pressure-densified Polymers
Abstract : The macroscopic volume V as a function of pressure P and temperature T is obtained from PVT measurements. PVT data is sensitive to the state of polymers and changes therein. Moreover, PVT data gives access to the free-volume fraction. READ MORE

4. Free Volume Determination in Polymers and Polymer Blends
Abstract : The free volume of a polymer, which corresponds to the unoccupied regions accessible to segmental motions, is an important parameter for understanding and predicting many of its characteristic properties. The concept of free volume is the basis for understanding the molecular mobility in polymers. READ MORE

5. Mechanical and histological disturbances in advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation
Abstract : The general purpose of this thesis is to establish capability and accuracy of speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) in assessing left atrial (LA), left ventricular (LV) and right ventricular (RV) function and their correlation with myocardial fibrosis, filling pressure and clinical outcomes in advanced heart failure (HF) patients before and after heart transplantation (HT).I demonstrated that HT recipients had impaired LV twist dynamics in the form of reduced rotation twist angle and untwist rate but time to peak twist was not different from the age matched controls and other cardiac surgical patients.
