    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; pastoralism; livestock mobility; conservation; community conservancy; Northern Rangelands Trust; political ecology; access; institutions; governmentality; territoriality; Samburu; Laikipia; Isiolo; Kenya; Geography with Emphasis on Human Geography; geografi med kulturgeografisk inriktning;

    Abstract : Pastoral mobility is seen as the most effective strategy to make use of constantly shifting resources. In northern Kenya, mobile pastoralism as a highly-valued strategy to manage grazing areas and exploit resource variability is becoming more complex. READ MORE

  2. 2. Signaling via the bHLH-PAS proteins AhR and HIF

    Author : Cecilia Bosdotter; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns some mechanistic properties of the basic helix-loop-helix/PAS (bHLH-PAS) factors aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) and hypoxia-inducible factor 1 alpha (HIF-1α). The bHLH-PAS family of proteins is a family of factors that controls a variety of developmental and physiological events. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mechanism of conditional regulation of the bHLH/PAS dioxin receptor

    Author : Jacqueline McGuire; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The intracellular dioxin receptor is a bHLH/PAS protein which mediates signal transduction by dioxin and upon heterodimerisation with the bHLH/PAS partner factor Arnt, functions as a ligand-activated transcription factor by binding to specific xenobiotic response elements in promoters of target genes. Although the physiological function of the dioxin receptor and the nature of a possible physiological ligand are presently not known, targeted disruption of the mouse dioxin receptor gene has indicated that the receptor may play an important role in hepatic development. 4. 4. Flow cytometry for bioprocess control

    Author : Fredrik Wållberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : flow cytometry; partec pas; propidium iodide;

    Abstract : During bio-technical processing it is important to monitorbiological parameters such as cell growth, viability andproduct formation. Many of the analyses traditionally used areslow to perform and provide only average data for thepopulation. READ MORE

  5. 5. L'Etat, c'est pas moi : Reframing citizenship(s) in the Baltic republics
