    Author : Anneli Julander; Magnus Engwall; Bert van Bavel; Myrto Petreas; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PBDE; BTBPE; DeBDethane; Thyroid hormone; Occupational exposure; Human plasma; Air sampling; MeO-PBDE; PBDE; BTBPE; DeBDetan; Sköldkörtelhormon; Yrkesexponering; Human plasma; Luftprovtagning; MeO-PBDE; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik; Enviromental Science; Miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), 1,2-bis(2,4,6-tribromophenoxy)ethane (BTBPE) and 1,2-bis(2,3,4,5,6-pentabromophenyl)ethane (DeBDethane) were analysed in air and blood samples from workers at an electronics recycling facility. The samples were collected regularly for 18 months and were analysed by isomer specific GC/MS analysis in both electron impact (EI) and negative chemical ionisation (NCI) mode. READ MORE

  2. 2. Developmental Neurotoxicity in Mice Neonatally Co-exposed to Environmental Agents : PCB, PBDE, Methyl Mercury and Ionized Radiation - Interactions and Effects

    Author : Celia Fischer; Per Eriksson; Anders Fredriksson; Richard Seegal; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Biology; PCB; PBDE; MeHg; ionized radiation; neonatal; development; neurotoxicity; behavior; cholinergic system; Biologi;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the neurotoxic effects in mice neonatally co-exposed to different toxic environmental agents during a defined critical period of the brains's rapid growth and development. Environmental toxic agents are incorporated in our environment. READ MORE

  3. 3. Coxsackievirus B3 Infection and Host Defence Responses Change the Metabolism of PBDE

    Author : Magnus Lundgren; Nils-Gunnar Ilbäck; Hans Tjälve; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Coxsackievirus; environmental pollutants; PBDE; cytokines; chemokines; metabolism; infection; tissue distribution; toxicology; virology; immunology; Toxicology; Toxikologi; Virology; Virologi; Medicine; medicin;

    Abstract : It has been suggested that the rising amounts of chemicals in the environment may affect host resistance and increase susceptibility to infections. Studies have also shown that infections can change the toxicity of pollutants. READ MORE

  4. 4. Polybrominated diphenylethers in the environment - Local and long range transport

    Author : Arnout ter Schure; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Substance Flow Analysis; Spatial Variation; Sources; PCB; PBDE; Latitude; Global Fractionation; Frogs; Deposition; Atmosphere; Baltic Sea; Ekologi; Temperature; Washout ratio; Ecology;

    Abstract : I have studied the sources, long range transport, and rates of flow of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), from the technosphere to the Baltic ecosystems. PBDEs are mainly used in polymers, which are applied in electrical equipment to prevent overheating or flashover and are produced in large quantities. READ MORE

  5. 5. On the combustion and photolytic degradation products of some brominated flame retardants

    Author : Gunilla Söderström; Stellan Marklund; Mats Tysklind; Kees Olie; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; PBCDD; PBCDF; PBDD; PBDF; PBDE; HBCD; TBBP-A; combustion; photolytic; MSW; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Abstract : Many modern products, especially electronic goods, are protected by brominated flame retardants (BFR). Some of the most common flame retardants are polybrominated diphenylethers (PBDE), tetrabromobisphenol-A (TBBP-A) and hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD). READ MORE
