11. Structural Elements in Native Celluloses
Abstract : In this thesis, a schematic model for the structure ofaggregated cellulose I fibrils is proposed. The model consistsof a crystalline fibril core surrounded by less orderedcellulose forms. These cellulose forms are fibril surfacesaccessible to water, fibril surfaces inaccessible to water andpara-crystalline cellulose. READ MORE

12. Prediction of wood species and pulp brightness from roundwood measurements
Abstract : This thesis presents a number of studies, where a multivariate approach was taken to construct models that predict wood species and thermo mechanical pulp brightness from roundwood of Norway spruce and Scots pine. The first and second studies produced multivariate prediction models for wood species from the bark of spruce and pine. READ MORE

13. Applications in Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy
Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to address specific applications of Raman spectroscopy and specifically surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy, SERS. It includes an introduction to the techniques and several applications. The focus has been on how to achieve high precision SERS measurements, both qualitatively and quantitatively. READ MORE

14. Analysis of Metabolites in Complex Biological Samples Using LC/MS and Multivariate Data Analysis : Metabolic Fingerprinting and Detection of Biomarkers
Abstract : To facilitate early diagnosis of diseases and elucidation of the processes involved in their development and progression, various specific compounds or ‘biomarkers’ are often monitored. The first step is to decide which compounds to analyze. READ MORE

15. Quantitative Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy
Abstract : Surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is a very attractive technique for detection of various organic and inorganic molecules due to its sensitivity and selectivity. The surface enhancement is achieved when the molecules of interest are on or in the vicinity of a metal surface, usually gold and silver. READ MORE
