  1. 1. Fingerprints of planktivory : paleolimnological evidence of past fish community structure and dynamics

    Author : Emma Åhlén; Marko Reinikainen; Tom Korsman; Pär Byström; Timo Kairesalo; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; planktivory; foraging efficiency; cladoceran remains; Bosmina; planktivore community capacity; PCC; Ceriodaphnia; reserrection; zooekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Abstract : Planktivorous fish affect the species composition, size and morphology of their zooplankton prey by size selective predation. Remains of cladocerans are deposited in the lake sediments and this microfossil community hence reflects the historical changes in the planktivore fish community. READ MORE

  2. 2. Configuration study of large wind parks

    Author : Stefan Lundberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; production cost; PCC; power quality; offshore; HVDC; wind parks; DC DC converters; control; losses; configurations; flicker; energy capture;

    Abstract : In this thesis, layouts of various large-scale wind parks, using both AC as well as DC, are investigated. Loss modelling of the wind park components as well as calculations of the energy capture of the turbines using various electrical systems are performed, and the energy production cost of the various park configurations is determined. 3. 3. Deg/HtrA proteases of the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 : from biochemical characterization to their physiological functions

    Author : Xuân Tâm Lâm; Christiane Funk; Jörg Nickelsen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Deg; HtrA; protease; chaperone; Synechocystis sp. PCC 6903; biochemical characterization; physiological function; proteomics; structure;

    Abstract : The family of Deg/HtrA proteases is present in a wide range of organisms from bacteria, archaea to eukaryota. These ATP-independent serine endopeptidases play key roles in the cellular protein quality control. The cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. READ MORE

  4. 4. Proteomic profiles and gene expressions in the symbiotically competent cyanobacterium Nostoc sp. PCC 73102

    Author : Liang Ran; Birgitta Bergman; Karl Forchhammer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Nostoc PCC 73102; hormogonia; 2-DE; symbiosis; photo-autotrophy; heterotrophy; cell differentiation; Microbiology; Mikrobiologi; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Abstract : Nostoc PCC 73102 is an evolutionary important cyanobacterium with multiple phenotypic traits and symbiotic capacities. Based on two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, a proteomic approach was developed in order to obtain protein profiles of this symbiotically competent cyanobacterium during three trophic types/life stages: free-living photo-autotrophic and diazotrophic growth conditions, dark heterotrophic conditions and hormogonium formation.
