  1. 11. Detection of immunoglobulin heavy chain gene rearrangement with PCR for MRD analysis in lymphoproliferative disorders

    Author : Ulf Thunberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Minimal residual disease; Immunoglobulin gene rearrangement; PCR; Leukemia; Lymphoma; Myeloma; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Abstract : Immunoglobulin heavy chain (IGH) gene rearrangement occurs during early B-lymphocyte differentiation, assembling the different IGH gene segments to a functional gene, which can serve as a marker for study of lineage association and detection of Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) in clonal diseases deriving from B-lymphocytes or their early differentiation stages. Use of a molecular marker for the leukemic cells could help improve treatment by monitoring therapeutic efficacy, predicting relapse, and identifying very small amounts of tumour cells contaminating autografts after purging or enrichment of stem cells. 3. 13. Real-time PCR and its application for protein quantification

    Author : Kristina Lind; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ELISA; real-time immuno-PCR; real-time PCR; melt curve analysis; PSA; 3’UTR; TAP-tag; BOXTO; immuno-qPCR;

    Abstract : The ability to quantify specific DNA sequences with real-time PCR has increased the possibilities for sensitive DNA analysis enormously. This sensitive technique can in optimal conditions detect one DNA copy and has a large quantification range. READ MORE

  4. 14. Gene expression profiling with real-time PCR

    Author : Anders Ståhlberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; single cell biology; reverse transcription; LightUp probe; cancer diagnostics; real-time PCR; gene expression profiling; tumor biology;

    Abstract : The sequence of the entire human genome is available today, and this information can be used to understand, characterize, and treat complex diseases such as cancer. Many cellular functions related to survival, growth and differentiation are reflected in the gene expression pattern, and the ability to quantify transcription levels of specific genes is, and always has been, central to research on gene function. 5. 15. Genital human papillomaviruses. Studies of their occurrence, type spectrum and expression

    Author : Ola Forslund; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mRNA expression; microwell; HPV 70; type determination; CIN; quantification; urine; multifocal infections; hybridization; PCR; HPV; human papillomavirus; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Abstract : The occurrence of genital human papillomavirus infection was determined in different categories of patients by means of PCR. In high proportion of young women attending an adolescent clinic, the presence of HPV DNA was demonstrated in simultaneously urethral and cervical samples, suggesting that genital HPV infections are often multifocal.
