1. The PET sampling puzzle : intelligent data sampling methods for positron emission tomography
Abstract : Much like a backwards computed Sudoku puzzle, starting from the completed number grid and working ones way down to a partially completed grid without damaging the route back to the full unique solution, this thesis tackles the challenges behind setting up a number puzzle in the context of biomedical imaging. By leveraging sparse signal processing theory, we study the means of practical undersampling of positron emission tomography (PET) measurements, an imaging modality in nuclear medicine that visualises functional processes within the body using radioactive tracers. 2. Error reduction strategies for quantitative PET with focus on hybrid PET/MRI
Abstract : Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is an important tool for detection, staging and follow-up in a wide range of diseases, including cancer and neurological disorders. As a functional imaging tool, PET can visualize biological processes, where positron emitting radioactive isotopes are connected to molecules with different functions in the body. READ MORE

3. A clinical positron emission tomography facility : 2-¹⁸FDG studies : development and results
Abstract : Positron emission tomography (PET) is a tracer technique used for quantitative in vivo studies of physiological and biochemical processes. Because of the use of positron-emitting radionuclides such as 11-C, 13-N, 15-O and 18-F, which are isotopes of the biologically ubiquitous elements, it is possible to label radiopharmaceuticals which trace biochemical processes precisely. 4. Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Studies in Anxiety Disorders
Abstract : Anxiety disorders are very common and the primary feature is abnormal or inappropriate anxiety. Fear and anxiety is often mediated by the amygdala, a brain structure rich in substance P (SP) and neurokinin 1 (NK1) receptors. READ MORE

5. Towards Clinical Implementation of Dynamic Positron Emission Tomography in Neurodegenerative Diseases
Abstract : Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Parkinson’s disease (PD) are the two most common neurodegenerative disorders worldwide. Positron emission tomography (PET), together with suitable biomarkers, can aid in the clin-ical evaluation as well as in research investigations of these diseases. READ MORE
