  1. 11. Västsvensk petroleumindustri 1945-2000 : etablering och tillväxt

    Author : Kurt Johnsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; technological systems; petroleum industry; fuel refinery; innovation; institution; industrial network; petrochemicals;

    Abstract : The purpose of the study has been to describe and analyse the establishment and growth of the petroleum industry in western Sweden during the second half of the twentieth century. Empirical data shows that the development of refineries has in large part been governed by environmental changes where belonging to an international concern with large financial resources, and a determined investment in FoU in order to be at the forefront, has been advantageous. 2. 12. Absorbent Materials from Kraft Pulp

    Author : Fredrik Wernersson Brodin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MFC; retention; foam; TEMPO oxidation.; absorption; Absorbent;

    Abstract : Superabsorbent polymers (SAP) have, since being introduced in the 1980s, become an important constituent in hygiene products, such as disposable diapers. The design of disposable diapers has changed over the years and today thinner products can be produced partly because of the excellent absorption and retention properties of the petrochemical-based SAP. 3. 13. Interaction between defossilisation of basic industries and relocation : Scenario-based explorative and normative transition pathways to electrification for European basic industries and specific clusters

    Author : Clemens Schneider; Miljö- och energisystem; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; steel; petrochemicals; defossilisation; climate-neutral production; electrification; industry clusters;

    Abstract : The steel and chemical production industries are the largest industrial emitters of greenhouse gases in the European Union, together accounting for half of the EU’s industrial greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. A promising strategy for achieving deep GHG emissions reductions is the electrification of these two industries, which would depend on the rapid expansion of renewable electricity supply. READ MORE

  4. 14. Ice Formwork : The Rationale and Potential of Ice-Based Moulding Systems  for the Production of Complex-Geometry  Precast Concrete

    Author : Vasily Sitnikov; Oliver Tessmann; Tim Ainsworth Anstey; Harald Kloft; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ice Formwork; High-Performance Concrete; Digital Fabrication; Refrigeration; Embodied Energy; Grey energy; Carbon Footprint.; Architectural Technology; Arkitekturteknik;

    Abstract : This doctoral thesis analyses and makes proposals about adapting the poten-tial of digital means of production to the needs of the concrete industry. More precisely, it aims at fostering the development of sustainable material cycles and the innovation in manufacturing methods in the field of architectural and structural design of ultra-high performance fibre-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC). 5. 15. Metabolic Engineering of Saccharomyces cerevisiae for Sesquiterpene Production

    Author : Gionata Scalcinati; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Systems Biology; Saccharomyces cerevisiae.; Evolutionary engineering; Metabolic Engineering; Microrefinery; Cell factory; Synthetic Biology;

    Abstract : Industrial biotechnology aims to develop robust “microbial cell factories”, to produce an array of added value chemicals presently dominated by petrochemical processes. The exploitation of an efficient microbial production as sustainable technology has an important impact for our society. READ MORE
