  1. 16. The missing links : Towards an Informed Substitution of Durable Water Repellent Chemicals for Textiles

    Author : Steffen Schellenberger; Ian Cousins; Stefan Stolte; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Durable water repellents (DWRs) that provide liquid repellency to functional textiles are part of an ongoing global substitution process. The process of substitution was initiated after DWRs based on side-chain fluorinated polymers (long-chain SFPs) were identified to contribute to the diffuse release of long-chain perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) to the environment. 2. 17. Enrichment of biogenic and anthropogenic organic substances on sea spray aerosols

    Author : Nikola Radoman; Ian Cousins; Matthew Salter; Jurgita Ovadnevaite; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sea spray; Organic carbon; Dissolved organic matter; Phytoplankton bloom; Cationic surfactants; Perfluorinated alkyl acids; LC-MS; HRMS; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : The world’s oceans are the source of one of the most abundant types of natural aerosols, namely sea spray aerosols (SSA). By scattering solar radiation, SSA play a significant role in controlling the Earth’s radiation budget, while they are also involved in the formation of clouds, acting as cloud condensation nuclei (CCN). 3. 18. Fluorine mass balance in wildlife and consumer products : How much organofluorine are we missing?

    Author : Lara Schultes; Jonathan P. Benskin; Michael McLachlan; Jörg Feldmann; Elsie M. Sunderland; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PFASs; PFOS; fluorine mass balance; organofluorine; EOF; TF; wildlife; consumer products; combustion ion chromatography; high resolution mass spectrometry; suspect screening; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are a class of anthropogenic pollutants. Many PFASs are highly persistent and have been linked to adverse effects in humans. According to latest estimates, there are more than 4700 PFASs in global commerce, which poses immense challenges for environmental monitoring. READ MORE

  4. 19. Estimating children’s exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances

    Author : Kerstin Winkens; Ian T. Cousins; Urs Berger; Robin Vestergren; Heather M. Stapleton; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PFAS; PFAA; fluorinated; fluorotelomer; FTOH; PAP; early life; child; human; exposure; intake; indoor; bedroom; air; dust; serum; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are highly stable, surface active chemicals, which are water- and oil/stain-repellent. Because of their unique properties, PFASs are widely used in consumer products. READ MORE
