  1. 1. Neurohormonal Modulators in the Parathyroid Gland. Localization and regulation

    Author : Lena Luts; Malmö Patologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Receptor; In situ hybridization; Immunocytochemistry; Nitric Oxide Synthase; Endothelin; Neuropeptides; Chromogranin; Parathyroid adenoma; Parathyroid gland; Parathyroid hormone; mRNA; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Abstract : The occurrence and distribution of neurohormonal peptides, neuroendocrine markers and receptors in parathyroid nerve fibers and endocrine cells are described, using immunocytochemistry, in situ hybridization, image analysis and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. Immunocytochemical studies revealed that parathyroid glands of chicken, rat, guinea-pig, cat, dog and sheep contained adrenergic-, cholinergic-, and peptide-containing nerve fibers. READ MORE

  2. 2. Study of serotonin, innervation and sensory neuropeptides in allergic contact dermatitis

    Author : Husameldin El-Nour; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Allergic contact dermatitis; serotonin; sensory neuropeptides; nerve density;

    Abstract : In a murine model of contact allergy, 24 h after challenge with antigen, increased axonal growth using an antibody to growth-associated protein-43 (GAP-43) was seen in the epidermis and dermis of eczematous skin. Protein gene product 9.5 (PGP 9.5) positive nerve fibres tended to increase in the eczematous skin. READ MORE

    Keywords : Estrogen receptor; progesterone receptor; IGF-I mRNA; thioredoxin; PGP 9.5. neuropeptides; dendritic cells;

    Abstract : Objective: To evaluate the hormonal and neuronal environment in human cervix during pregnancy and parturition. Methods: Cervical biopsy specimens were obtained transvaginally, and serum samples were drawn simultaneously. READ MORE

  4. 4. Etiological and clinical aspects of skin sensivity

    Keywords : Atopic dermatitis; laser treatment; nerves; neuropeptides; rosacea; sensitive skin; stinging;

    Abstract : Rashes in dermatological disease are often accompanied by subjective symptoms, but in some cases the subjective symptoms are the most prominent signs of skin disorder. This is the case in "stinger patients", who may have an obvious skin disease, but in other cases there are no clear-cut reasons for the symptoms. READ MORE
